PXG Golf Ball

Not sure why club companies want to get in the golf ball market.  Way too many choices already.  I look at Mizuno.  Decent ball, but if I'm not going to drop top dollar to try a ball when you know Pro V, TP5, etc have already been proven.  If PXG handles like the clubs, they will run some crazy low sales.  Maybe it will work and I'll be wrong.  Not the first time.

That is what I don't understand.  You aren't going to get guys to give up their current ball at $50.00.  My guess it will be $50.00 for summer, then a buy 2 get 1 free or even 50% special will run.  Could be interesting to watch how they work it.  With PXG there is always a plan.

I frequently wonder the same thing. Regardless of what their marketing team tells us, these are not tour level premium balls so why the premium pricing? Same can be said for Wilson and Mizuno. Those balls are perfectly fine for the majority of casual golfers, but if they were really tour level then all of their staffers would be playing them.

However, I can't think of a single Mizuno or Wilson tour player who plays one of their balls.

Yeh when PXG first hit the market Parsons was asked if PXG would ever put out a golf ball. His response was "No, you can't get a better ball than the Pro V".

Guess he changed his mind on that. Or Dollar signs may have changed his mind !!!!

Pfft.  $25 or less, preferably $20 per dozen, and I will use them.  Otherwise, forget it.  Too many other options.

Hopefully the R&D budget for this was taken from the commercial/marketing funding.

And not from the CEO's cough lozenges fund.

The entire market is overly saturated right now. There are so many ball choices between DTC, big brands, no names, used balls and then those guys that play golf just to go in the woods and walk out with another 10 balls over a round to make sure their next round is covered. But, PXG is so unapologetically themselves, which is why I love them, that I'm excited if they follow through on a release. My guess is a 3 or 4 piece urethane cover with some made up jargon that will sell like hot cakes to the rich boys. Or, they could market to the more cost effective golfer, too.

It's 3 piece, 1 cover with 338 dimples per the USGA Conforming ball list.
