What's for dinner?

 

When one wants excellent BBQ in the AVL I always recommend 12 Bones. There are two locations. The 12 Bones closest to me has a brewery inside as well because this is Asheville. There are 60 Breweries in town now and that's crazy. Great for tourism though.

 

I do take out most times but the dinning room and tap room are casual and comfortable. On weekends there is live music. Some people bring their dogs and sit on the porch because this is Asheville. This restaurant does their to go food packaging exceptionally well. No matter the size of your to go order it will always be presented at the pick up counter securely packed in a sturdy cardboard box. (The one topless container in my box was a sample taste of one of their new sauces that a kitchen employee wanted my thoughts on) Included will be the utensils needed, plentiful paper napkins, moist towelette packages, and small extra containers of the BBQ sauce you specified. There is a choice of five 12 Bones signature sauces, Blueberry Chipotle, Mustard Vinegar, Hot Jalapeno, Pineapple Habanero, and the one that I always request, Sweet Tomato. 

 

LP tonight went with.....

 

Top plate - a 5 oz tasting each of...

Buttered Green Beans

Corn Pudding

Jalapeno Cheese Grits

Sliced smoked turkey (3oz) 

 

Bottom plate

A mini slab of ribs. I take mine dry with the brown sugar rub only with Sweet Tomato sauce on the side. 

 

Corn Bread with honey butter. (not pictured)

Looks awesome touch! I’m doing a reverse seared tri-tip. Smoked then seared til done. Served w/salad and oven roasted Yukon gold potatoes.

What you are making sounds tasty. What is reverse seared if you don't mind? Yukon gold's are one of my favorite potatoes so bonus points. Might the Lounge get to see the finished dish TS?

I smoke @ 225° until IT reaches about 120°, then turn it up to 450-500° to sear it. About 5min per side. No wine, green tea. Haha. I will definitely take a pic.

Thank you for a fine review as it all looks lovely.  Tonight we went with a fine 3 topping pizza from a small Italian company (DiGiorno).  It came frozen in well-packaged red box and I paired mine with a glass of Mt. Dew poured over 4 ice cubes while Mrs. NCL went with a home-brewed sweet ice tea with 3 cubes.  Purchased yesterday at Food Lion, prepared in approx 25 minutes.  Very pleased with the taste, price, and execution of the meal.  Sorry about the lack of pictures as the romantic candlelight was skewing the images...

The strong winds are gone here in western NC and the sun is out in full force. The high temp will hit 47* today and 56* tomorrow so that means I will be able to get a little practice in. Even warmer weather returns for the start of next week and I have tee time's set for Monday and Tuesday. 

 

The loss of a parent is very painful. My mother's current quality of life was not good. Madelin lived a long a wonderful life. She would have turned 96 in two weeks. 

 

 

Very sorry about the prognosis for your mother.  My mother is 90 and I wonder how much time she has left in this life.  Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

They had a bunch of colors. They came in different shaped glassware. Lou Tendler's  featured a that classic looking cocktail menu for the time. 

From the menu there are three drinks that are still ordered today, the Manhattan, Cuba Libre (rum and coke), and a frozen Daiquiri.

I am 63 years old and during my high school/college days I saw in concert Rush, Black Sabbath, Doobie Brothers, Black Oak Arkansas, Heart, ZZ Top, Styx, Journey, George Benson, Alice Cooper, Eagles, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.  

 

Today, I still enjoy classic rock, but I also like some grunge rock and alternative music.  I have a few country songs on my playlist as well as a few Neil Diamond, Grassroots, Adele, Blink 182, Pearl Jam, REM, Black Keys, Foo Fighters, and many others.  I have hundreds of songs on my itunes playlist and as you can tell, I am all over the place on styles of rock music.

 

When Sirius XM has temporary free music, I listen to Alt Nation.  Yes, I am a little weird, but that's okay....I can live with that!

Doobies , awesome. George Benson live, fabulous. I saw him in the early 80's outdoors at Caesars Palace. Amazing.
