He putted so well at the Capital One The Match and PNC with the flow neck, I don't get why he switched away from it again.

Yeah but then he wanted to be "just like Tiger" and bring out his NP2 from highschool daddy gave him.

If JT had been using a forgiving Odyssey mallet his whole career he would have 4 majors by now IMO.

From what I’ve seen his strokes gained have been bad with all three of his gamers

It's a mallet but the neck is different on this one.

His best friend is Tiger, who thinks wins with cavity backs and mallet putters should come with an asterisk.

That’s just silly. I would imagine Tiger of all people, having played since driver shafts were steel and weighed 130g+, would acknowledge the benefit of modern equipment’s technological advantage. Even if he was slower to change than most, he still changed. If he hasn’t, it’s because his MB’s and NP2 offer some playing characteristic or feedback that he thinks benefits his play. 
 

KJ beat him at the PGA with 11 hybrids ITB and I’m guessing the loss wouldn’t have felt any better if he was playing MB’s. I doubt he ever gave KJ’s clubs a second thought either. 

 

Also, hasn’t he played the P770’s in his long irons at his most recent events? A hollow-bodied, foam-filled, PDI? 
 

Anyway, what that has to do with JT’s putter, I’m not sure. We’ve all been guilty of it though… not making as many putts as you like, throw an old friend in the bag for a few rounds, then realize why you benched it to begin with and send it back to the closet. It happens. JT has been rotating between the knucklehead and slant neck since we first saw it. It’s not much of a surprise. And it has nothing to do with Tiger.

If Tiger Woods needled you constantly about your golf game, it wouldn’t get to you a bit? JT might have two majors, but Tiger is still Tiger even to JT.

Reminds me of the 2018 PGA when Tiger played a TM mallet. It was like being in the ‘the Upside Down’. Believe he came in 2nd. Going out on a limb he woulda counted the W asterisk free! Haha

He putted so good that week with that putter! It was an interesting stroke he made with it, less rotation, more of a block-y stroke….

 

even if he won that week, he’d have gone back to the elder wand shortly after, I’m confident.
