Doing the rope swing after watching Dr.Kwon videos

The rope swing has helped me hit my driver straighter and longer than I have in years really happy about the progress I have made.My irons are a different matter I seem to top them more but the tops at least are going straight and I can’t figure it out.I like Milo and Dr.Kwons teachings as there method seems to fit me better  but the ball topping is troublesome.Any ideas on how to fix this. One thing I might add the players in my skin game the  tell me I’m hitting it farther the older I get with my driver.

the rope swing is helpful in finding your natural plane, getting the right tempo, and proper shoulder rotation.  for low point, try aiming at a reference point several inches in front of the ball for irons.

Sound like you learned how to throw it away quicker.  If you want to learn how to swing a club, replace left arm with a rope.

JNIK.

Or if you want to learn how to perfect swinging a rope, keep endlessly swinging a rope.  You'll be the envy of all in the punishment cloister at the monastery.

This is the reason you can’t solely do drills for dozens, hundreds, thousands of reps.

You need to have more balls hit than drill swings.

I have seen somewhere between 3 and 5 to 1.

Do the drill for 3-5 swings, hit 10-15 balls.  Rinse and repeat.

Huh?  Well, you know what?  This might be the best golf related advice that I have ever gotten on the internet.  And I have been on various forums and the like for kind of a long time LOL...

I have noticed over the years that I would almost always hit the ball better immediately when trying a new drill.  Then I would think that I had the answer and all I had to do was drill endlessly!  The result would be that I would hit the ball worse and worse whenever I did hit it.  After repeating this cycle numerous times I concluded that I was really good at turning my drill swing into a habit that had no relation to my actual swing with a ball down there.

Anyway, I have tried the ratio that you suggest a few times with a few drills and it does seem to be effective.  For me it seems that if I think hard about how I am moving doing the drill and then think a lot less while hitting the ball then the drill movement may translate over on it's own.  Something like that anyway.

At any rate thanks!

Good stuff Monte.   Would you say the same thing about drills that include hitting a ball?   I do a lot of 1 arm drills and will do 10-15 1 arm reps hitting balls and then 3-5 regular swings.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.
