Just wondering who you all think are the top 5 "coolest" guys on the PGA Tour?

Ive been a standard bearer at the AT&T pro am for the past 4 years (soon to be 5), and 2 years at the 1st tee open from the pros ive worked for in the pro am the best would have to be.

Olin Browne - I met him a a pro-am once, and he's just a great guy, very funny.

 

Bo Van Pelt - I dunno why, but he always seems to have a nice thing to say, just a good guy, IMO.

 

Fred Funk - No brainer there.

 

Robert Gamez - Every time I've encountered him, he's always smiling, always friendly.

Interesting that you mention Jerry Kelly. I know a teaching pro who works with a handful of tour players, and he told me a story involving J. Kelly...to insiders on tour, he's not well liked at all...one of the biggest $%@$% on tour.

 

It just goes to show you, with limited contact with someone, you really can't make a good judgement. If a tour player gives 100 kids autographs one day, but snubs just one kid the next day, it all depends on who you talk to....

 

As for one of the coolest...hands down...

Met Erica Blasberg the other day and she is really cool too.

 

Most of the people on the European Tour are nice, I only met a couple that I didn't like. Just regular people living the dream. The Euro Tour is much more of a family than the US tour, everyone hangs out and does things together - the sort of togetherness that wins a ryder cup :dntknw:

Sergio Garcia asked me if I wanted his autograph and used his own sharpie. Ian Poultier signed my scorecard and drew a green with a flag shaped like a "P" for his last name. They were pretty funny. Chris Smith asked me what shot he should hit during a practice round, I said a knockdown 7 iron and he stuck it about 5 feet from the pin. Brad Faxon was pretty cool, he chatted a little, even though he had some driver problems that particular day. And Jerry Kelly was pretty cool.

I drove courtesty cars for a tournament last spring, so I got to meet quite a few interesting people. Tour players that I got to drive were Corey Pavin, Skip Kendall, Aaron Oberholser, and Lucas Glover. All super nice guys and fun to talk to. Lucas Glover was awesome. He saw me later at the tournament and came running from the middle of the fairway to say hi. Pretty cool. Rory Sabattini was also very nice at the airport. I know a lot of people have bad things to say about him, but he was very nice to everyone there.

Roland Thather --- good friend of mine, great great guy

 

Hank Kuehne --- got to spend some time with him bc of a friend of mine who works with him, great guy and real funny

 

Justin Leonard --- met him years ago and has always been soo nice and talks to me alot everytime i see him. introduced me to his teacher and family and just a super guy.

 

Paul Stankowski --- what a nice and fun guy to talk to

 

Jonathan Kaye -- met him through some family members of his i met (his wife, cousin, and uncle) got to hang with him a few years ago at the tour championship in houston. what a nice and hilarious guy. thanks for the dip too. hehe

1.) VJ - my favorite player so i'm kinda biased, but he's fun to watch and jokes around quite a bit

2.) Boom-Boom - he's super nice to kids and i don't think i've ever seen him not smiling

3.) Fred Funk - come on, the dress, that takes balls

4.) Gore - such a good sport for even showing his face after a horrible final round in the U.S. Open

5.) JD - who doesn't love an overweight, M&M eating, cigarette smoking, beer drinking hillbilly?

Ben Curtis - from what I hear, he's an @$$ in person and as a Kent State student currently, I don't like knowing that

Greg Norman - hater of all fans from what I've seen

Jim Furyk - my buddies and I saw him at a Bob Evans one morning and he turned down the chocolate milk we told our waitress to get him, lost all respect for the man

Nick Price- had a set of irons he gave away to a charity auction that I bought get stolen, had a note left for him at Wachovia, he personally called me back and I recieved one of his personal sets via Fedex the next week! Class all the way!

 

JD- spoke at charity function I was organizing for kids free of charge w/ no questions asked!

 

Stewart Cink- look and built like him, but w/ more hair on my head, saw him at tournament and he asked me to ask my Dad if had been to his hometown! Funnier and more approachable than given credit.

 

Retief- worked security at this year's US Open, and he was consistently nice to everyone I saw him have contact w/.

Tommy Armour III, Voted number one chick magnet by the caddies. Throws a wicked party at the Nelson (lives on 18). Hung out with his brother. Their cool guys.

not a specific answer to your question, but when i was at the amex championship in october i thought that:

 

vijay, harrington, jobe, o'hair were very cool.

 

hard to tell about tiger because he is as aloof as you can be ... no recognition to the fans, no eye contact, nothing ... pretty skinny dude though, not the he-man he's made out to be.

 

dimarco (in particular) and poulter were very uncool. ok, bottom line ... dimarco is an a******.

Just to give you something to hear from someone else- Ben Curtis is not an @$$. No way. No how. Doesn't loook terribly friendly on camera sometimes, and I'm not saying he's never had a bad day or anything, but he's not a bad guy.
