Visiting Sedona in April

Oak Creek Country Club is an awesome course. Some of the best greens in the state. It’s a solid and fun layout. Lots of dog leg left and rights, good mix of par 3’s and a couple solid par 5’s.

Seven Canyons is a good option. A little more tricked up in my opinion but still good golf. It’s got some amazing vistas for sure which make it worth the play alone. It’s private but the allow public play after 1pm I believe, at least during the summer, give them a call to be sure.

Sedona Golf Resort is the other option, it’s ok, nothing to write home about and not in the same category as the other 2.

Thanks I saw people mention Oak Creek I just assumed it was private for some reason. What about Seven Canyon's is tricked up? Probably won't go there as I prefer morning golf but appreciate the advice.

Oak Creek and Sedona Golf Resort are your only choices for a full course.  Canyon Mesa is a super 9 hole option.

I think 7 canyons is private only until mid may

Booked a tee time for Oak Creek. Must be popular as there was only 2 tee times available a for the day I was looking for a month from now in the middle of the week. Thanks for the help!

You should enjoy it. Some great scenery especially on the back nine, and it's always been in perfect condition whenever I've played it. I really like the course. It's just a shame they've jacked their rates up bigtime since covid, you used to be able to play it for like $89 on a summer weekend morning in 2019.

The price increases the last couple years in golf have been rough. I recently got to golf at Bandon Dunes and the winter rates are $150 for winter time in Oregon. The worst part was after playing there I realized they could keep raising prices and I would still go, kinda hate myself for that.

Actually, the price inflation in many places hasn't hit Sedona. Both Oak Creek CC and Sedona Golf Resort have been ~$125 for several years. The challenge with Oak Creek CC is finding a tee time.

Is oak creek still doing shotgun only tee times?

It has done that during the winter months. Spring through fall are regular tee times.

here’s a deal(maybe?) as well

https://golfmoose.com/product/oakcreek-country-club/

I bought this earlier in the year, planning on using it on Saturday.

They are closed for a college tournament, and what the assistant pro told me was they had a bad winter and were mostly closed. Thankfully Golfmoose was refunding all of those passes purchased earlier in the year. Pretty solid customer service if you ask me.

Might go walk the executive course up there (Canyon Mesa) instead to knock my new wedges around a little bit. Is it any good?

Canyon Mesa is fun! FYI Sedona got hammered with rain and melting snow yesterday, oak creek almost flooded over, I think they said it was 12ft deep where it’s usually a foot

I used to live in Sedona. Moved to Florida about 10 years ago. The only golf course actually in Sedona is Seven Canyons. And it's not really in the city, it is back in the red rock canyons just north of West Sedona. The others mentioned are about 10 to 12 miles south in the Village of Oak Creek.  I lived very close to Seven Canyons and played there often.  Every hole is a post card.  You'll never play a course like that again.  Oak Creek CC is an older course. Much flatter then the others. Sedona golf resort was my second favorite. I played Canyon Mesa once.

If I returned to that area I'd opt for either Seven Canyons or Sedona Golf Resort.

I personally didn’t really care for the golf at 7 canyons, oak creek was much better from a pure golf experience IMO. I always think it’s funny when people talk about the views on 7 canyons, it’s like you’re in Sedona, the views are literally everywhere you go lol

Good point. It got really old trying to drive to the store when tourists would stop dead in the middle of the road and start taking pictures!!  😊  I swore I'd never live in a tourist town ever again!

You can see how high the water was, based on the mud on the banks. Looked to be quite the flood event.

Canyon Mesa it is, sucks I won't be playing the course I can see from my hotel room.

Ps. This place is wild. It's one thing to see it in pictures, but to see it in person is unbelievable. We did Jerome today for lunch, that place is wild too.

I used to ride my bike from my house in west Sedona up through Jerome to the top of Mingus Mountain. Jerome is a great place for lunch and cool shops. I lived near the base of Thunder Mountain.

Btw.. Pink Jeep Tour or helicopter!!  👍

Agree...Jerome and Bisbee are two great towns.

Totally agree! Also bums me out that globe/Miami hasn’t figured out a way to tap into this kind of vibe as well, especially with the growth of the east valley. Maybe temperature plays a role?

I would imagine had they, the golf course may still be around and thriving.
