How Long Do You Wait from Seller to Ship?

Just curious how long I should wait for a seller to ship an item before reporting and contacting PayPal. 
 

A little background….
 

I have always had great luck purchasing used equipment from the BST.  People have always shipped promptly and communicated.  Last Thursday, I replied to a sellers posting, and sent PayPal immediately. He replied and said he was going to try to ship early this week since his inlaws just arrived in town.  I haven’t heard anything since. Gave him until yesterday before I followed up then again today with no response. I really need the club for a tournament next week and am wondering if I should just pick a new one up from Golf Galaxy.   At the end of the day, I am not worried since it wasn’t a huge purchase and I am sure PayPal will make it right. I just need the club. 
 

Am I just being impatient?  Or should I have heard something?

Life happens but communication is always key and you have been patient to date. Folks shouldn't list items for sale if they can't get shipped out in a timely manner. 

 

Feel free to invite the seller to this thread and make sure to leave appropriate feedback so other members are aware going forward.

I always try to get items shipped as soon as possible. If I can't ship quickly I let the buyer know when to expect that I can ship. If you count Saturday, the seller has been sitting on the club for 5 business days (including today). With no shipment and no communication, that seems too long. Depending on the method of shipment the club may not even get to you in time for you to use it.

 

Invite the seller to this thread. That generally speeds things up a bit. 😉

If I don’t hear back tomorrow at the latest. I am just going to request a refund through PayPal and pick a new one up at Golf Galaxy.  As it stands won’t get to practice much with it before my tournament.

I agree  too long on sellers part.  What club was it, just curious what you needed for the tournament?

Never used a chipper before but am desperate to put a band aid on my poor chipping and have read good things. Another reason why I need some practice time with it in advance.

I purchased a club from this member last year and had a pretty similar situation to yours.  Seller sent me tracking but the package was never actually shipped, it sat for almost a week before finally being shipped.  The blame fell on his office secretary for not getting it out.  He did offer a partial refund for the trouble,  but i declined, it wasn’t a mater of life or death.
 

I agree with everyone else though, if you have the time to list something, you have the time to make sure it gets shipped out the same day if possible, if not the next day at the latest.

Its been a week with no contact, I would open a PP case right now. In laws visiting or not how long does it take to pack up a club and ship it? It takes less than a minute to send a message.

I have the same issue with my chipping - ChipR has certainly improved that. I did need to have it bent to lie angle spec and I added a couple degrees of loft. It definitely is an adjustment so practice time is needed.

All of these are infinitely better excuses than “my in-laws came to town so I can’t get to the shipping center”

 

No. Just No. Every guy who’s married or was ever married knows that when the in-laws come to town you’ll find ANY excuse to get out of the house. And you’ll drive to the UPS store that’s 638 miles away instead of going to the one in town.

I dont think it's asking too much to expect that a seller has at least put some thought into the fulfillment end of the deal before even posting the ad.  Paypal makes it very easy to purchase a shiping label so really it comes down to a box and some tape. 

 

Besides, 5 days should be enough time to allow a buyer to 1) make the deal, 2) Pay, 3) receive the item, 4) fail miserably, 5) list it for sale, and 6) repeat.

I try to send the next day and if that’s not possible I let the buyer know. Anything over 3-4 days is too long. I know things happen and life gets in the way, but I’ve always believed if you have time to post and ad then you should be able to ship within a few days.

Does a visit from the in-laws require 24/7 attention so that a visit to the store to drop off a package isn’t possible?
