Just a WD by another name. Apparently a neck injury which seems to have been bothering him all year. He could theoretically still have advanced with a win over Homa but now Homa automatically advances. Sucks for Justin Suh, lol. He had a chance but that means nothing now

I was thinking the same thing. I know it could have been "play better" but it does suck for Suh, out of his hands.

I don't understand, if Suh beats Kevin Kisner, he advances. If he loses, playoff with Kisner.

Homa advances regardless of the suh kisner match he has 3 points thanks to the wd

It doesn't make any difference that Magee didn't fly it 300 or 349. He made a HIO on a par 4! The only one in PGA Tour history. DJ knocked a 430 yard drive to 6". Both results were arguably better than Rory.

 

The question we will never have an answer for is would he actually buried the putt?

Good discussion here, and that was probably the best drive I've ever witnessed live (I told my girlfriend, check this out, it's gonna be a bomb - but wow did he exceed expectations!). Although Bryson at Bay Hill was a memorable moment, even if he didn't hit the green.

In some ways it's even cooler that he didn't even have to attempt the putt. Up one in the match, par four, and only takes one shot to make his opponent concede. Pretty unique aspect of the shot.

Right, the only thing Suh is playing for is a few thousand extra bucks for winning an extra point or not. Woke up this morning thinking he had a chance to play to get into the elimination rounds. Has to be disappointing

I know it's a little off topic, but when I think of players driving the green on a par 4 the shot Tiger hit in 2005 at Doral always comes to mind. The hole's yardage was 372, but it was a dogleg left so I never knew exactly how far it carried. I do remember he was the only one to do it that year. 

 

edit: Announcer said 320 to the front edge. It that's reliable.

whats just as amazing is that its the same driver head most players would've wrote the whole club off and gone back to the previous driver

A different course and/or a couple weeks can make a big difference.

 

TPC Players may be one of the most visually intimidating courses there is. 

 

It only takes a tiny fraction of being uncomfortable vs. being comfortable to make a big difference.
