🙂That name 'pun' just rolls off the tongue to me, but @18majorsneed fear not, I like Yealimi and wish her the best.

Plus she's one of the few to get 'game face' Leona to smile during a pro event round:

Nice way to finish birdie/eagle today. The firepower is there, just need to minimize the bogeys!

What a rollercoaster of a scorecard: a double, 3 bogeys, 6 birdies and an eagle

What did Ariya eat for breakfast yesterday and today ?

Hae Ran is cruising. She won her first event on the KLPGA in her first attempt. Will lightning strike twice?

Delighted to see Ariya playing well.

Birdiefest aside, this is shaping up to be a nice tournament. It's going to be a shootout tomorrow.

I remember last season actually around this time, made a prediction about Jeeno coming from behind and getting her maiden LPGA victory.  I have a similar gut feeling about tomorrow and Sei Young Kim getting a nice come from behind victory.

Sure, those at the top who went really low today can do it tomorrow but more likely a good score for them will be -3 to -5.  Sei Young has had 3 very good rounds but nothing really low, I think she finds that round tomorrow and she has a track record for low rounds and she's due a win IMO.

Like I said just a gut feeling, still lots of players on top of her who can go low also.

Was following In Gee Chun for the first 7 holes and Hae Ran Rhu was her playing partner. I was not familiar with her to be honest, but she had game. Missed a couple of chances inside 10 feet. I got off that group to watch Nelly and others and she took off. I guess I was kind of her cooler. Will she be ready to win?

Wow - 30 players within 5 shots of the lead!  The name that jumps out, of course is Jin Young Ko.  Many of the others either haven’t won yet or haven’t won in a long time, and the -12s and -11s have to go lower than an awful lot of players.  It would be cool for Jen Kupcho to win on her home course (and where she got married), so I’ll pick her, with Smiling Cinderella Hinako Shibuno as the people’s choice.

I'm just imagining how you'd run a playoff with 6 players in it.....

In fact, what's the largest playoff number previously on the LPGA?

.

@pmcuk Answered in the form of a 'Jeopardy' question...

i will confess... via a google-searchhttps://bit.ly/3LRElsg

"What is...

Spoiler

the "1999 Jamie Farr... a.k.a. Dana Open"?"

 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Open#:~:text=The-,largest playoff,-in LPGA history

Quote: "The largest playoff in LPGA history took place at the 1999 Jamie Farr, a six-player affair involving Karrie Webb, Carin Koch, Sherri Steinhauer, Se Ri Pak, Kelli Kuehne, and Mardi Lunn. Defending champion Pak won it on first hole of sudden death, sinking a ten-foot (3 m) birdie putt.[4]"

Just found out that Maddie Szeryk is a dual Canadian and US citizen.

I don't understand why the commentators never mentioned that.

Annoying.

Wouldn't mind if Ta-ra-ra Boutier wins this, she's such a consistent upper level performer.

Have also been impressed with Lucrezia Borge.

She grew up in Texas, her parents are Canadian.  She started to identify as Canadian when she joined our National junior golf program.  It a pretty good deal for a young golfer.  Because of her status, she probably still gets money for travel and other expenses.

@Rapidcat What's the background/context for "Lucrezia Borge"?

Are you taking over from @KBong 's and @Cwebb's penchant for anointing witty nicknames to players ...e.g. "Slim"  for Celine Boutier  (haven't heard "Ta-ra-ra" before... but have only been watching youtube highlights!)

Just have a penchant today for them and have just made them up:

  • Ta-ra-ra is from the vaudeville song "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" eg Boom-de-ay/Boutier.
  • Lucrezia is from the Italian historical figure Lucrezia Borgia.

I'll come up with lots more over the next 30 weeks if you like?🙂

Got it ... was just googling Lucrezia.

Anyone miss Morgan?

Um, not really, I'm quite liking the dynamics of this events crew.

Didn't realise how much Karen Stupples talks until her absence.

Understandable, I’ll take Kay over Karen but I’ll also take Morgan over Paige any day.

I'm not a Morgan dis-liker, she's always well prepared and offers some nice insights.

For some reason this event's commentary has been sort of understated, which I've enjoyed, probably as a contrast to the recent Thai event talk-fest.
