There have been negotiations (and low ballers) since the beginning of time.

You’re posting items for free on a public forum and complaining about people inquiring and making offers.

Just ignore the messages and move on. Or counter back.

It's one thing too low-ball and life goes on. It's another thing to have to deal with people criticizing your price and then trying to get a deal.

If there price is too high, shoot your shot and deal with the consequences. No need to add the insult to the OP of whatever item it might be.

It’s like the dumpster fire when I see someone selling an item on FB without disabling the comments. People just bash the listing and price. How sad does your life have to be to insult someone’s listing. Just move on.

Im not sure which one was the typo, but you had it listed for $275

Yes I did, the the message from new member was "Curious how motivated you are since I am seeing this type of club sell for $175 here and you price is way off from that."

I am aware and no negotiation here so I did ignore the message.  However, I decided to post to keep these rats accountable for being cheap.  I don't run a business here therefore, no need for friendly customer service on my end.  Rather insulting for a new member that has contributed nothing to this forum just to message me "you price is wrong, how motivated are you to sell".  Kick rocks dude.

Respectfully,

This place is becoming much tougher to get motivated to sell on. Listed a gamer 2008 Button Back on here last week for an absolute fire price and had a member telling me how there was nothing special about the Button Backs and I needed to get realistic with my pricing. Decided to go ahead and list it on eBay for 10% higher price (not to mention the tax they had to pay on it) and it sold within 2 hours. I don't know what's happened over here, but I never thought I'd say eBay is my preferred method of selling clubs. Alas, that has become the case.

Yeah that is the frustrating part of listing on here.  I know I’ve lost out on a couple of sales waiting for someone to pay and then disappears

Spot on.  99% of the time, "Will you take $___" or "I will do it for $___, send me your PayPal".  Lowball offers right of the bat almost every single time, it gets old.  The gear here is insane and much much cheaper than eBay but I am too finding more success on eBay.

Me personally, I am aware enough to not make insulting offers to other members.  If I feel its worth the price for ME, I purchase the asking price.  Haggling over $20 is dumb and lowballing someone $100 is also dumb.

It sucks sellers here are getting frustrated. I don’t sale but I always keep an eye out here for anything I may be looking for as I trust sellers here know more about what they’re selling than other secondary outlets. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt the selection.

Maybe I should start utilizing the WTB forum but never had much success with those (not here) so I don’t bother. Question for the sellers, do you keep an eye on the wtb board?

I myself don't look at the WTB forum. I did when I initially started selling on here long ago, but a lot of times it was a back and forth exchange of messages that would many times drag out and result in no sale. I'd rather just post it in the BST and hope those folks looking are checking the BST.

"Paypal is locked and loaded", etc. Thanks man, but think I'm good waiting an hour in order to not take a 30% haircut on my already extremely fair pricing.

To play devils advocate- why not just include “prices firm” in the offer? Tons of offers include OBO, which implies open to negotiation.

If the goal is to sell, any offer is good (and acts as a new floor price). Since there isn’t a bidding mechanism on the site, I’d assume most offer prices are on the higher end of what a seller is willing to accept.

I don't think the complaint is about offers.

It's receiving a message like "Curious how motivated you are since I am seeing this type of club sell for $175 here and you price is way off from that." ^posted above by the OP

It's not an offer.

But I would probably just delete it or write back something to them like "Curious how motivated you are to buy since you didn't include an offer" lol. Probably a 16 year old kid.

In my experience, it doesn't matter. I can't tell you how many times I've listed "No trades" and still get multiple messages offering trades. I disagree with "any offer is good". I research prices extensively, both through eBay sold listings and I'm on here every day looking at the BST. So I consider myself extremely well versed on what the market is for almost any type of club. When I list something on here, I list it at a price that's already priced to sell. Because I, like many other WRX'ers, am a club ho that's got their eye on something else. So when I list something well below what it can be bought for on eBay, 2nd Swing, Global Golf, etc., it's just mind blowing and frustrating to still get people telling you they'll give you 30%-50% less than what's already a great deal. It's a free country and nothing says people can't message and offer whatever they want. I ignore 99% of them and brush it off, but I was just responding to the OP as that recent case for me was a little more aggravating than normal. I was just venting a little myself, it's good to see that I'm not the only one that's noticed a bit of a shift on here. I've been selling on the BST since 2009, and have just been noticing a change over the last year or two it seems.

Agree there - number one thing is to be respectful (regardless or offer / price). If the price/ offer is way out of range, easy enough to just ignore (or justify why a price is reasonable).

Discouraging offers is bad for all, but having a culture of bad offers on either end will also be bad for the forum.

I come from a place that people either prioritize money or convenience in a transaction, and I have no clue which one it is when I make an offer. If prices are well known (like a Ventus, or a lightly used latest release that failed testing), transactions should be easy and quick …. But for other items, the potential range of prices by time is really wide and low end offers may actually have value (depending on where seller falls in money vs convenience)

I just bought a 2 iron here, that I was fairly confident would not work for me (team 5w). I offered what I was willing to spend a week into the ad, and seller accepted. Turns out I was right and the club didn’t work, but the transaction left both me and the seller happy….

I agree with this, well said. If the ad has been sitting there for days or a week, then obviously something needs adjusting as the item must not be in high demand. If I'm just trying to dump some older items that have just been sitting in the closet, I take a completely different mindset towards it than a newly released driver that I bought to try out. I buy and sell things so frequently though, that it doesn't have time to sit in the closet. Haha.

The posters who offer commentary on pricing obviously feel they are smarter and you will somehow see that when they point it out to you and give it to them at their price. There are lots of ads that I look at prices and think they're way too high but I'm certainly not going to comment about it, especially if i'm interested in the item.

Gosh dang do I hate cheap people (Michaelross24).

How bout you contribute to this forum and don't use it like a freaking swap meet.

That is all, hit'em straight.

If it was priced right, you probably sold in 48 hours and have been vindicated.  Forward the sold notice to the critic.

To just offer another perspective - if I am looking at something I really don't need and just sort of want to try, I'll message them and say something like "your price is more than fair, I just don't want to pay that price so this is where I'm at." I try not to get into telling something their pricing is off because usually they'll get the hint when the item doesn't sell.

I sell a lot on here and there are times when I will entertain a lowball offer if it's something I'm just trying to get rid of - otherwise, a simple "no thanks" suffices.

if I make a low ball offer (I have and will) I just make it. I’m not going to add insult to injury by trying to make some kind of commentary on the price.

My favorite thing when people throw a real low ball is I'll say, "you got it, be here in a half hour and its yours"...... then you get " well I don't actually drive and my cousin can give me a ride but not until Friday when he gets paid and can put gas in the car" hahahaha gtfoh

Man the BST was sooooooo freaking awesome for so long. So many great memories of dealings with other awesome members wanting to try different equipment. Not sure how to fix it now, but man has it gotten bad. People are just so darn cheap now a days and they approach for sale ads as if they are negotiations. That in itself is not a huge issue, the issue is from where they are getting their negotiation tactics...It's like a default to "start" the conversation with an offer of half the listed sale price. I see this and instantly ignore or send back a snarky response because it's a joke.
