Taylormade Stealth 2 face popped out

Has anyone seen this before? Played it for 2 weeks and noticed my ball wasn’t flying anywhere near the distance it normally does. Finally a few holes later i noticed the face was completely popped out. I have a new one coming but I’m a bit concerned this will happen again or will be subtle break and I won’t be getting the full potential out of the club.

Can you post a few other angles as well.

Also if you are concerned about the durability, sell the new head and shaft when you get the replacement (don't take off the plastic), then go in another direction. Or if you bought from a big box store, you may be able to return the new club (don't unwrap it when you get the replacement) for a refund or credit to put towards another driver.

There are thousands of those drivers in play around the world.  They may not be as durable as a welded driver, but based on the relative lack of complaints here, I don't think you have much to worry about.

I’ve always played taylormade drivers and have never had an issue so just wanted to see if this is common with these new carbon faces. Bought directly from taylormade custom shop

Yeah, that really sucks, a fellow golfer friend had the same issue happen to him with the original stealth, we were at the driving range and he noticed the ball flight, then he stated that it sounded weird, finally it came unglued or separated. He also received a new one and this one hasn't given him any issues, hopefully your new one is good to go...

Looks like a My Stealth head. Wonder if the customization has anything to do with the face popping off?

The carbon faces seem to fail at a similar rate as traditional metal faces, just that the failure often looks more catastrophic given that the face is functionally more of a separate piece. Taylormade will replace it as they did for the Stealth 1.

Taylormade is replacing these no questions asked and their customer service is excellent.  However, according to both clubs that I belong to-- Both generations of Stealth drivers are failing at a higher rate than other manufacturers.  My main club has had 6 replacements and Taylormade isn't even well represented there.  Maybe a 5% fail rate here?  I'd feel pretty confident.  I ordered a custom Stealth 2+ in spite of this information, because I don't care.  It gave me phenomenal numbers and I want to play it.  FWIW, I've collapsed my GBB Epic SZ, Cobra F9, TEE 3wood, and Cobra F7 3wood faces.  I do not care.  Every manufacturer has replaced no questions asked.

Yeah I will say Taylormade is awesome with all of that. Obviously clubs break, I think this was just more of how quickly it happened. But I have a replacement coming and plan to keep using it because I agree, I have seen some great numbers with this club.

That's embarrassing for taylormade. I understand a carbon crown cracking but face popping out? Lol im hearing a ton of quality control issues across alot of brands. Just falls in line with how the rest of the world is going... everything seems worse qaulity lately. Anybody see grocery store fruits and vegetables? My kids had chicken hairs in the nuggets the other day... whats next? Im worried a clubhead is going to fly off and whack me in the face.

How many balls would you guys estimate you'd hit, total, before the failure?

And with what approximate clubhead speed?

My intuition says that Stealth owners like me like limited clubhead speed (90mph absolute max) and who only use it on course rather than hitting lots of range balls might have a Mean Time Between Failures in the centuries while someone swinging at 120mph and practice on the driving range a couple hours a week might have a pretty high failure rate.

But that's just intuition. It could also be that some had faulty glue or whatever are were just bound to fail no matter what.

I had the Stealth and Stealth 2.  The laminate layer on the Stealth started to peel so TM was generous enough to send me a replacement which was a Stealth 2.  I ended up selling it here on BST because I wasn't getting the ball speeds I'd normally get.  My ss is 118 on average but can get it up to 123(range swing) and I've never had the face popping off issue with either head.

I had the exact same thing happen about 10 rounds in… best driver I’ve ever hit but then the face popped out. I attributed mine to hitting range balls possibly. Range balls feel like rocks off that face. Taylormade is quick to replace them which is great.

The culprit is range balls.  I've cracked two driver faces in the past hitting range balls.

2 Questions:

What is your SS

Do you spend a lot of time hitting range balls with it

After hitting about 10 range balls with my S2P i just stopped hitting Driver.....the Sound of it was almost punishing.  It sounded absolutely nothing like hitting my TP5x or Tour B XS which sound fantastic coming off the driver.

I know this sound stupid, but I won't hit my S2P unless I'm at a club with actual legit range balls.  The good news is, I am crushing this driver the bad news is I don't practice with it at the range.

My original Stealth + broke in about 3.5 months. My Stealth 2+ only lasted about 2 months. 118-120 swing speed on the course.

I play and practice a lot, but I don’t spend a lot of time beating range balls with driver. My course has decent range balls anyway and it’s generally hot here in Phoenix.

I decided it was time to find something else after the last one broke.

So this exact same thing happened just today with my son's Stealth2 Driver - had it for 2 months.
Did you get exact replacement...did they say anything on the cause?
