All-black PXG Gen 6

Recommended Posts

From my observation of the blackhawk edition there does not appear to be any functional differences to the released chrome iron?

The only difference appears to be in the 100% black finish.

I have had prior xtreme dark finished pxg irons in the Gen1, 2, 4, and 5 models and they were a bit more expensive but more in line with the Gen6 black label edition differential.  So, a new edition blackhawk Gen6 should not be any different in price than the black label.

Lets see if in time it gets released...should be a winner.

Yes, it really does!  I know some have said when you see the regular version in person they look better.  I just cannot buy them after seeing the black hawk version.  If PXG was smart, they would get these to market in the states with a quickness.

They know how much can be made by offering exclusives over there. It’s a common thing, there’s been JDM exclusives for as long as I’ve been into golf equipment. People are discussing the forged Vokey’s in another thread, which are another long-standing Japanese release.

If you look on Instagram for posts tagged #PXG you get a load of Japanese posts, often with clubs made up with exotic shafts which I’ve never even heard of. It’s a hugely valuable market and one they need to service by offering them ‘special’ gear.

I now follow quite a few of PXGs Japanese fans, purely for research 😛

@BirdieBob You are correct, there is no difference at all other than the ALL BLACK finish.

I don't know.  The all black iron surprisingly shows just how bulky the tungsten weight is.  The two tone hides it better.

I don't believe that is a tungsten weight, the tungsten is in the screws, not the clubhead you are referring to.

On a more or less irrelevant topic - does it mean if any manufacture is willing to use a big piece of tungsten like that, then they would actually be able to make a game improvement iron with the compactness of a players iron?

That's what I always thought too, but the Gen 5 irons said '----- tungsten ----' on the irons under the black part.  It made me think it was all tungsten.

Regardless, the single color really makes the iron look hefty.

Well I guess more bad news concerning the Blackhawks.

Again this is from a pretty reliable source so take it however you want. Due to agreements/contracts signed it doesn't look like these will be available for sale in the US at all.

Really Sux !!!!

no threads about how the black finish is not durable and one range session later the $3k spend was a waste.

Well unless your consistently hitting off of a very sandy range PXG's DLC is very very good.

Might have to come up with a different reason. Or what we think is a different reason. We can always justify new irons right !!!!!!!!!!!!
