Titleist woods fitting question

Recommended Posts

Just plunked down $100 for a fitting with titleist, as I’m very interested to see if they can improve on my current driver (PXG Gen 4 that I was custom fit into).
my question is has anyone done this fitting and what was your experience, was there a hard sell, if you buy from them right then and there does the $100 fitting charge go toward your new driver?

I saw a YouTube series on their new driver lineup and was hooked, have to try it out for myself and compare, looking forward to it.   But have only done GG fittings and then the PXG fitting a couple years back.  Actually haven’t played much Titleist.

No pressure. My club had a fitting and there wasn’t a fee. I did ask them and they said sometimes the charge a fee to keep people from just banging balls all day and to free up space for people like you. Not sure if it’s waived if purchased.

Overall it was a good experience. Trackman and hopefully the fitter know their shafts which is the most important in my opinion. He told me which ones were stock etc. before handing me a Ventus he said, hey this is a hefty up charge and I understand if you don’t want to hit it etc.

Awesome print out of the specs fit into etc.

Thanks!

ya I’m just glad it’ll be done outside with trackman.

I feel like titleist will give me a great experience for the $100, atleast I hope they do haha

Excited to possible put something of theirs in the bag 👌

I did a fitting with them for the TSR woods, they dont try and sell you from my experience, the 100 dollars does go towards your clubs if you choose to purchase, and you don't have to do it then and there. You'll get an email from the fitter with a link to your specs and to order them whenever you'd like. It's hard to find a quality outdoor fitting around here especially on grass for me and they do both while using prov1 practice balls. Woods was fun, I assume irons and wedges are even better at their fittings.

i did it last fall and paid the 100$.  twice;  the first time i was kind of in a funk and wasn't swinging well.  my best fit was the tsr3 with the ad iz.

i decided not to buy and went back a month later when the same fitter came back to the course.

I hit the iz horribly that second time.  went through all kinds of shafts and ended up with the stock tensei black.  the ventus tr red and blue were both good too.

Never felt any pressure and the fitter seemed to know what he was doing.

Main focus was on ball speed, smash factor, dispersion and keeping my spin down to a manageable level

i have been fit outdoors many times and the guy did as good a job as anyone else from a shaft knowledge standpoint.  They didn't have a ton of shorter options but there were probably a good 35-40 or more driver shafts

make sure to give feedback on what feels good vs what doesn't.  what feels too light vs too heavy.  And try your best not to rapid fire balls (go through your pre-shot routine)

I got on average 8 mph more ball speed vs the driver i went in with (i had been fit for it a few years ago but my swing had changed)

Its performed pretty well on course.  My longest shots are probably the same.  My mishits have way better distance (my ball speed avg was 165 during the fitting and i hit a personal best of 168 which i have never done on a trackman fitting, even when i got fit 10 years ago)

That’s great to hear, thanks!

and they were totally fine with bringing current gamer and really comparing it to their own drivers correct?

Absolutely. You need to use your current driver to establish a baseline
you also need to let the fitter know what you like and don’t like about your current driver and be honest about your game.

for me, too much spin and poor distance on mis hits was my main complaint for my previous driver. So my priority was to see if I could improve it. Wind performance was also a big one (which obviously related to spin and contact on the right part of the face)
