Poa greens. Did you see one of the last frames of the coverage wrap-up which showed her say "my gosh" over a missed putt (probably the 3rd putt on #2)

 

If I were her, I would make a schedule change to avoid poa green events, just neutralises her strength. She has acknowledged on social media how it has affected her previously, and how the effect leaks into later events eh putting confidence. She does like the California courses though, bar the poa greens, probably why she plays.

 

Whilst Leona doesn't have putting demons, there's a reason why Minjee isn't in the field with her season start putting issues. Aussies hate poa greens.

 

Get rid of poa greens, introduces too much chance.

 

Poa's also endemic to Melbourne, Oz, we don't tolerate it on the better courses.

There was some carnage out there in R1:

• Lee6 shot 80
• Valenzuela shot a 79 with no birdies and 38 putts
• Talley shot a 79 with no birdies and 36 putts
• Major winner Buhai shot a 79 with no birdies and 2 doubles
• Law shot a 78 with no birdies and 38 putts
• Szeryk shot a 78 with 29 putts....but only 6 GIR. Remember how well she performed last event?

 

One hell of a course - mostly in a good way but not the poa greens.

I do like courses like this but THE POA, If I was a proven winner (contender) I might skip this one, it can only mess with your potting lol.  When even Lydia only hit 12 greens but still needs 32 putts, sorry I'm gonna question the purity of the greens lol.  It's probably no accident Lexi, Brooke and Minjee skip it, when cold they share the same putting style ... BAD!!!  I guess there's no reason to come here and tempt fate lol.

Lol. They putt terrible on good greens. Maybe they'd actually sink a few mishit putts as they bound left and right over the surface.

Weren't the greens at Austin Country Club poa? Isn't the issue on the west coast the infestation of bent greens with poa?

Pretty sure ACC was bermuda, poa prefers cooler climates.  It's definitely a pain in the neck for bent greens.

I'm not sure of the reason why but I do think you are correct, West coast poa seems worse.  I know Hawaii is Poa but has a slight variation to make it adaptive to the salty sea air and the ball seems to roll better there.

The 4th and final spot for team OZ is razor thin. Current Sarah Kemp is T30 and Grace Kim T41. A high finish from one will be vaulted to safety. Someone earlier posted this is the final week before the rankings are locked.

 

I hope In Gee injury is not severe, she will be the only returning player from team Korea to defend their title this year. 

 

USA looks to be the strongest team atm whilst Vu is peaking.

Broadcast indicated poa, however the PGA Tour website indicates bermuda/poa. I wonder if poa and bermuda play nicer together than poa and bent.

That's a good question, but I would not think so, especially not with the ultradwarf bermudas.  I think a major reason poa is such an annoyance is that it grows so fast -- faster than the other grasses -- resulting in greens that are smooth when freshly cut becoming slower, bumpy and inconsistent by afternoon.   But I'm no turf expert.

 

On an unrelated subject, Hyo Joo Kim seems to be wildly underappreciated for her consistent excellence.  Top five in scoring average in 3 of her 7 full seasons, a major, four other wins and she's just casually picked up 14 KLPGA wins along the way according to wikipedia.
