Did I get scammed?

I guess I’m too gullible 😞. I’ve bought several things on this site over the years. Never any problem.   I posted a WTB Srixon irons.  Got a PM like usual.  Sent the guy $$ over PP.  I always used friends n family on

past transactions to save the seller some $$$. I know now after reading some pinned threads that’s a big no no.  So definitely my bad.  Anyway this all happened on Saturday  he gave me his cell #   Said he’d provide shipping #.  I waited till today since nothing can be shipped on Sunday.  Nothing but radio silence today.  I’ve texted him but no replies.    I guess really it’s only been 1 day so maybe I’m just paranoid, but the pinned threads about warning of scams got me thinking. That and the radio silence doesn’t help.  Do I have any recourse in this matter?  Should I contact PayPal right away?   Thanks guys

No recourse if friends and family that I'm aware of.  Hopefully he does the right thing.

No. Just said he’d keep me posted with shipping info. That was on Saturday.   I was really busy today and this evening I started thinking “hey I never heard back from the guy I bought the clubs from”.  So texted him is everything good, but got nothing back. That’s when my mind started wondering and I got a bad feeling in my gut 😞.   Might end up being fine and worried for nothing.  We shall see

I think give him a few more days. You could of gotten ripped, but for me personally, Mondays are quite busy and if he's anything like me, he'll probably end up packing it all up Monday/Tuesday night.

I ask the same thing as above.  Does the seller have a solid reputation here and some feedback?  You never know in life.  Sometimes things happen to people.  Sick, wreck, job or kid stuff.  Give him another day.  If he doesn't respond by Wed, you have an issue.   It's a crappy feeling when you don't get a response.

Joined match 1st.  I’m such an idiot.  I guess I was so caught up in being happy I found some new (to me) irons to buy I didn’t even check his history.  I got tired of losing bids on eBay and decided to go post a WTB AD.  he direct message me and I was off and running! I couldn’t give him my money fast enough lol.  We texted over cell and he sent me pics of clubs so I thought I was all good.   I always have had to learn the hard way, so par for the course so to speak

Just give it another day and don’t beat yourself up. Hopefully it all works out.

Yea I’m not exactly optimistic for you then. Even if you can’t get a refund I’d suggest still contacting PayPal.

Same.  I don’t really care about getting the money back, but I’d like for them to freeze the money up so at least he can’t get it or something.  And maybe save someone else from this happening to them.  That is if it turns out to be what it feels like

So I had like $180 in PP CREDIT.   The rest $300+ was from a credit card. From reading up tonight sounds like I can “try” to get refunded from cc if this deal doesn’t go thru.    Only for the $300+ of course

It only takes 15 secs to text someone...IMO..if the seller was/is legit.... he should have respond/reply on status by now.

Crappy situation. Contact your credit card issuer - maybe you can dispute the transaction. It could be worthwhile if the CC issuer can trigger PP to void the transaction.

All to "save the seller some $$$", $$$ in PP fees that her should already have baked into his price. This thread should be pinned as an example of what NOT to do in an online transaction.

 

And please identify the seller so the rest of us can avoid them.

You are 100% right.  I should and do know better.  Just a plain dumb moment I wish I could do over.   I did finally get a text back from him this AM.  Here’s how it went
