They are really close. T100 feel a tiny bit softer, i230 are a touch more forgiving, especially on toe hits.

2 of the best, better player, irons out there.  I played 1st gen T100 and loved them.  Currently play the i230.  Love them as well.  Performance is similar (flight, spin and distance) with the i230 having the slight edge in forgiveness.  The T100 has a more blade like look and responsive feel.  My son, competitive junior player, switched from the MP20MB to the i230 and hasn't looked back or mentioned another iron set since.

Anyone with some expert knowledge regarding the T100 sole and it’s turf interaction? I know they consulted Bob Vokey but that’s about the extent of what I know. I’ve heard from a couple of people (higher handicappers) that they took some bigger divots and were hitting shots heavy with them.

When I was testing T100 and T100s, my LGS friend had no i230's in yet, so I bought T200 2i & 4i, and T100s 5-W and will likey switch to MMT shafts.  My other set of clubs are 620 MBs.  At first, I had PX 6.0, then went to MMT 125s for around 2yrs, outstanding shafts, my favorite composite.  I've since messed with i230's and found them to be more like T200s, as opposed to T100's or my T100s.  Was a 2 index, now a 4, and older.  Good luck with what ever you chose.

i230's are on order. Hopefully another week, maybe 2. Went with 5-PW with DG 105 S300 shafts and a 430 7-wood (aka the cheat code)

I had played 223's with LZ 6.0 120 shafts for the past year, and had tried Apex Pro 21's with s400 shafts because I thought heavier shafts would let me lay the club down easier - but with the swing changes I'm making and, ahem...the older I get, the lighter shafts in the i230's will let me keep the club in-front of my chest better and really turn into impact better. clubhead speed and face control increased. The 223 and AP21's will probably make a showing in the classifieds after I get the pings.

I was extremely impressed with the i230's the T-100 irons felt amazing and hit the correct launch window but spun like crazy for me with the DG105 shafts, I could probably have tried the T100s model but that would have messed with the launch. I really wanted to like the ZX7 MkII irons (really) but their spin was a bit lower and dispersion was larger than the 230's.

I think the i230 are out.

So much bigger than what I am use to. Soles to wide for me. T100 much cleaner on the strike

so thinking now either T100 or a combo set of 7mc /7mb

How were the spins? Have some buddies who have the 100s and they can hit wicked fliers. Everyone I’ve read raves about 230 distance and spin consistency. Similar story for me. + handicap considering these clubs or the Srixon zx7

I'm been in the original T100S but will switch to the i230 later this summer.  I consistently hit them 10-15 feet higher per club.  Also anything even slightly off the heel of the T100 is coming up 10-15 yards short.  I see much less of a drop off with the i230.  Finally the screw out towards the toe definitely helps you straighten out a draw.  Straighter, higher, and more consistent distance control is a win for me.  Don't care what they look like.

From my experience, T100's, and my T100s launch are similar to my 620 MBs which have more traditional lofts.  Neither head naturally flights the ball high, which is why I bought them.  I am sure it's the user's swing mechanics and shaft profile.

My buddy hit my T100s 6i, it was like a moon ball.  Kinda amazed me.  He loves his Pings with rather soft steel shafts, but he misses greens left and right from 75-120yds out.  Sometimes feel of a shaft, gets in the way of the user choosing the shaft with better stats.

I see people talking about dispersion, often.  Been fortunate to not have that problem, thanks to my fast tempo and mid-high bend shafts.

  • 2 weeks later...

230's...both are very nice.  I don't practice as much as I would like, so it's nice to have the bit of forgiveness and front to back consistency.

As for working the 230's that is pretty easy in my book, and surprised to see anyone think they are shovels.  Have been playing blades for most of my golfing career,

Went with 7mc instead of either the T100 or i230

the i230 do look like shovels compared to the 7mc. the soles are about double or more the width (not a fan)
