eBay seller help

Update for everyone: The package still has not had a scan since 3/22, I have opened a missing package claim and can be refunded $100 in two days, putter sold for $150~.

It has been 5 days since the seller opened his eBay claim and there was no movement on the package, eBay refunded him the full amount directly from my account. I have a feeling he will somehow receive the putter as well even though I just submitted a package reroute.

Lesson learned, will only be using UPS moving forward, or just to stop buying so many putters I need to constantly be selling them.

If you don't mind, what is the ebay buyer's username so I know to block him/her  from bidding on any of my items  (I sell some golf stuff there too)?

What's a "package reroute" ? Can one make an attempt to reroute the package back to themselves if it hasn't already been delivered ? If so, never knew that.

So then, if the P.O. does find the package and reroutes it successfully, at least you'll have the putter back to sell again.

If not, and the putter IS delivered to the buyer, what then ? I assume you'll get in touch with the buyer and ask him to send it back, yes ? Or even pay for it ?

And if it's delivered and the buyer refuses to send it back, even at your expense, what does eBay do then ???

So many holes in the way eBay does some of the things it does post-sale.  If you're left to resort to eBay, which many of us eventually are, you're really left holding your breath someone with a good record and half an ounce of common sense and reason buys your crap.

I'm shocked USPS is offering to approve an insurance claim so quickly, tbh.  Wonder what they do if they refund you and then it ends up being delivered. We all know what eBay is going to do if it ends up being delivered.

Hope it works out for you, OP.

Sorry, but did I miss where USPS insurance is being paid (already) ?

OK, I guess I'll ask.

What ? ( I assume your answer will be "nothing", but,,,,,)

I believe it's called a Package Intercept, or at least that's what it was when I ran into a similar issue with USPS in the height of Covid. In theory this should stop it at its next destination. If it gets to the carrier, when they scan upon attempted delivery it alerts them not to deliver the package. I had to run this twice and both times it worked successfully for me. Unfortunately it may come at a cost, and you never recoup the original shipping expense.

Thanks. Never heard about that but it certainly sounds very reasonable - and do-able. 👍

Few posts above...

"Update for everyone: The package still has not had a scan since 3/22, I have opened a missing package claim and can be refunded $100 in two days, putter sold for $150~."

And as far as eBay, absolutely nothing, most likely.

I just checked my claim on USPS website and it has been moved to paid status, I haven't gotten the check yet though. I'm being paid back $108 after I sold the putter for $150. No updates on the tracking number since the first scan when I dropped it off at the post office.

eBay took the money out of my account to refund the buyer 14 days after the expected delivery date.

Pretty suprised USPS has already processed the claim (submitted 4/6), but I will only be shipping with fedEx moving forward.

Thanks. I'm sure you'll get the $ in time.

Just curious. Any idea why the extra $8 ?

Couldn't have been shipping cost, could it ?

And, if not, don't they refund the shipping to you when they lose an item ?

What's the buyer's username on ebay?  Instant block on my end.

For what though? The item isn’t updating…

I mean, if you order an item and it never updates are you going to sit and wait or ask for a refund?

Anyways in this case, I think the buyer received the putter hence why he was so fast to open a claim for a refund. I think USPS screwed up someone or the label barcode was messed up.

alteasy you got the $100 and took a $50 Loss, oh well

Because the buyer didn't have enough foresight to order  a putter more than  week before he needed it for a trip.  I don't want to deal with people like that on ebay .  He also asked for a refund on an item that he (the buyer) bought just because he wouldn't have it on time.  The right thing for the buyer to do  would be to accept the putter, even if he has to buy another to make sure he had it on time.  The buyer asked for a refund less than a week after placing the order.  .  That is why I asked for the buyer's name.
