Aside from JT, maybe Notay Begay, I doubt other pga players hang with Tiger.  The same is true with Jack Nicklaus.  Tiger and Jack are in rarefied air.

Tiger used to play a lot of pre-tournament practice rounds with Bryson before the accident and LIV.

In case people haven't realized it yet, Tiger's greatness is fueled by grudges. I'm pretty sure his leg is growing itself back from Tiger's grudge power. LIV as the enemy and Phil winning the 2021 PGA at 50 was the best thing for everyone who wants to see a Tiger comeback. Get rid of grudges, and Tiger becomes Charlie's full-time caddie.

 

Hating someone like Bryson has become fuel for Tiger. The way Tiger is built, he wouldn't have a chance anymore without these grudges. All that being said, no wonder Tiger is a hard person to have a relationship with.

What do you find outrageous about this? I’d be shocked if other players don’t envision things that same way. It’s simply one way to creating high expectations and helping them seem reachable. It’s not exactly whining if somebody asks you a question and you give an honest answer.  It’s also pretty hard to chuckle while you whine.

 

Bryson may be wrong about some things but even when wrong he is a remarkable person.

Tiger doesn't even talk to his good friends any longer.  He's a strange guy.  Great golfer.  Not a role model.  Tiger and Rogers have a lot in common.

Yeah, I didn't see any whining in the article either. He was quite diplomatic and nice about it.  The thread title doesn't match the article. 😜

 

But I do wonder how awkward the Master's Champion's Dinner is going to be. It would be interesting if they had video cameras in there. Perhaps all the players are totally cool with each other and the media/fans are the ones that fueling the tribalism dumpster fire.

Ding ding. Great golfer but playing a round of golf with him or hanging out with him would be last on my list. Not that I'd have to worry about any of that. Lol.  But I'd rather play a round of golf with Bryson or Phil. They'd chat your ear off on equipment, past tournaments, swing stuff etc...Tiger may say 5 words to you and he'd insist on driving the cart which would have you on edge the whole time.

Bryson left “the company”. People get to be “friends” when they work together. But you’re not really friends. Often tgey actually don’t even like each other. Then When one person quits, they don’t talk anymore.

Yep. It’s called tolerance.  It has its limits. Once there no other relationship ties , it goes away.  Ghosting is usually required for the Bryson type.  Especially since you know that if you tried to tell him nicely , he’d run to a reporter with the conversation.

The idea though that Woods is any paragon of virtue or any other valuable quality other than that he used to be able to play golf really well is risable.

 

The other guy is more human and likable.

 

There is no reasonable doubt the reaction to all this by a lot of people including Woods is self-interested, not evidence of some internet nobility of character which some people seem to believe in for unfashionable reasons.

But think of the possibilities.  If you get really lucky maybe Tiger will put a “ie” on the end of your name and call you that all round.

I think people are too quick to believe the clickbait golf stories that appear on places like Facebook.  Since the LIV Golf thing the amount of clickbait golf stories has skyrocketed to an absurd level.  Lately I've been blocking every account that posts a clickbait golf story that appears in my feeds.
