Tour Ping G430 LST 3 wood - 2023 Wells Fargo

Heard this is going to be an absolute bomber.  Ping has said the 430 Max 3w spin profile is in line with the 425 LST, so the LST is going to be one of the lowest spin fairways they’ve released in years (maybe the Anser?]

I love PING stuff, have forever. The sole looks like it's missing a piece though where that center screw is (obviously it's not, but it looks unfinished).

More of the ping staffers have played the Plus/Max version of the 3 wood over the last 4 years so it will be definitely interesting to see; especially if it is truly a low spin rocket launcher as many have been hinting at

My experience with the 430 max has been outstanding. I have some hot melt positioned forward toe side and the thing a touch shorter than standard, but I mean it is borderline too hot still. Easy to hit off the deck and everything but the whole reason I got it was to have a 3 wood that actually serves as a 3 wood and doesn’t spin below 3000 with 9 degrees of launch. I’m sure just like most ping clubs the lst is good, but very few high end players really want to give up spin for a few extra yards. Kind of want your three wood to have a high floor not necessarily a super high ceiling.

I want distance- plain and simple

 

Should probably go with a lofted down 5wd but I'll see what this LST does - especially in the +1 setting

Na. I think it’s whatever works best for the individual based on speed and launch conditions and other clubs around it. This is what this all kind of reminds me of. I remember getting a RocketBalz 13 degree and a rocket balls 14.5 both tour or tp models, however they designated that. The 13 degree no doubt I got my longest bullet with but it was only really useful off the tee and if I miss hit it off the ground I hit a low launching bad shot that didn’t go that a

far anyway. So the best shots were insane but the bad shots brutal. The 14.5 was sweet. Not quite as long but useful off the tee and good shots off the ground….. the new 3 woods even if 15 is stamped on it seem to behave like those tour spoon rocket balls. 2700 rpm, flying a mile when pure’d but somewhat on the razors edge 80 percent of the time. Seeing as how no matter what you.. or I guess I… only use this type of club at most 2-3 times per round… would I rather have one that goes 80-90 percent as far at 3000 plus rpm that I hit good 8/10 times or some club I hit a useful shot with 3 or 4 out of 10 times with? That’s where I’m at with it. Would hate to be in a tournament with my SR71 style three wood in the bag and choose to layup because the damn thing is volatile and impacts my confidence… regardless of how far it can go.

Yup, $549 is a premium price for a 3 wood that’s for sure. I’m excited to test it out though! Love my Rouge LS 3 wood, it would take something special to get it out of the bag.

The bigger question is if they even need what it brings to the table. It's highly likely they hit their spin window with the 3 wood already and they aren't lacking distance.

From what I've heard this wood was designed with Hovland in mind to get him to play a Ping 3wood instead of the TaylorMades that he's played the last couple of years. So I'm guessing that both him and Finau will test it thouroughly.

But that could be just rumors aswell

Finau using the Rogue Triple T with the deeper face now, might be tough to get that out of his hands.

I got fitted at Ping last week and inquired about it. We redid my set makeup to a strong 5w and ditched my 3w and 7w. The fitter said if I want to wait that the lst could find a spot in the bag as a fairway finder off the tee. Was told it is long
