No 3/4w at all anymore, interesting. I wonder if the 5w is bent stronger.

So that's a 12.5 degree driver if the head is actually 10.5, interesting.

Maybe it’s the lefty adapter?

I remember reading years ago that his dynamic loft is really low which is why he plays a higher loft.

DJ is definitely helping TM sell some fw woods

Well in my case, it didn't help TM because I could not find any decently priced 7 or 9 woods with shafts I like. But it did help other companies get wood sells lol! All my buddies have driving irons and maybe a 3 wood. After seeing DJ, Tommy F and others have a bunch of woods I was like, who the heck am I to not use them? Then went with highest lofted 3, 5, and 7 woods.

This is my thing with the higher lofted woods.  It's hard for me to find shafts I like in that 80g+ range without just buying a brand new Ventus or DI shaft and dropping $300+ on a shaft for a 5w.

Everything about that driver setup is awesome.  10.5 set to the highest setting on the loft sleeve (which also closes the face 4*) with the weight set towards the heal.

If this was a WITB from an average Joe on instagram, he would be getting flack for being a high handicap slicer 😀

He's an interesting one, he has a ton of shaft lean at high speed like Rahm (who plays 11.5), but IIRC he hits slightly up now.

The tour van doesn't seem to use the 2* adaptors nearly as much as the 1.5* so the adjustment is likely a little less severe. The "Plus" models also tend to be fade biased so putting the weight in the heel is more of a neutralizing move than a "draw biased" one.

DJ has always been a super low dynamic loft player and it feels like he's been trending down in speed ever since moving to LIV. The added loft on the driver and the more shut face angle might be a way to help offset that as he talked on the range last year about how his cut wasn't really "working" as much anymore and he started playing more draws. His mechanics have always relied on elite flexibility and speed so it makes sense we'd start seeing these kinds of changes as he gets older.

Agreed, and his speed and competitiveness lasted longer than I expected. I've never seen a 50 year old (or 45) get remotely in the same positions as DJ so at some point he was either going to have to change or simply fade away.

Absolutely!  Post that on WRX and ten people will tell you to spend your money on lessons instead of equipment!

Would love to know why he has his driver setup the way he does. I get the loft being where it's at because his dynamic loft is super low but the sliding weight being all the way in the heel makes no sense to me. I have never seen DJ miss it right and his big miss always seems to be a smother pull. Is the weight there maybe to provide some more mass behind the face for heel strikes?

So true, seems like everyone on here acts like lofting up is a huge no-no. Yet Cam Smith, Aberg, Hovland and Rahm all loft up either their driver or fairway wood; or both. Hovland’s driver is down but his woods are up - i think vice versa for Rahm. Cam Smith has everything lofted up. Aberg’s driver also on strongest setting. And that’s just off the top of my head based on all the witb’s I see 😂

Sure, tour issue heads (if they’re a thing outside of Callaway) will be slightly more open, but they’re still going to be “closed” on the strongest setting. I constantly see people say that they can’t stand how closed the face “looks” when lofted up - which doesn’t make much sense to me, unless you improperly sole the club closed before gripping; or are using an extreme draw-biased model
