What’s your favorite Adams tour club?

I’m a huge Adams homer and love collecting their stuff from the good old days, but especially their tour items that are unique. Their tour stuff always seemed to be pretty easily distinguishable from retail by either a different finish, paint break, or something just not at all produced for retail, so what’s your favorite tour item you currently have, used to have, have seen before, or wish you had? I’m sure there are things out there even I haven’t seen before.

I’ll start with my A4 Tour raw irons. I know these typically came in satin and black, so I’m not sure the story on these. May not be a tour finish job, but definitely a tour only head. I’m especially fond of Adams irons and currently have the CC1, A12 pro satins, CB3 satin, MB2 satin, along with the retail A4 Forged and A12 Pro black sets.

I won’t get into all the drivers, woods, and hybrids I have. Can’t wait to see what’s out there.

I too always liked these sharp-toed irons of Chad Campbell's.

the high toe has an eerie similarity to my Mizuno MP29.....I give Barney Adams all the credit in the world for bringing the masses the Tight Lies fairway wood, but I always suspected that he was giving his Tour staffers a different grind along with other incentives, because there was no way Tom Watson was going to play a grind that wasnt a simple muscle back, same with TAIII who carried a bag for a season

Quite possibly the case. I wasn’t around for those years. But I am sure concessions like that have to be made in order to get some guys on staff.

For me it was the following, all of which I played.

CB3's

MB2's

CMB's - after buying/selling multiple times ended up playing 3 different sets.

Pro A12 Hybrids - played for years and still put them in play from time to time. Those will NEVER be sold.

Best irons: cc1's. .had 2 sets

Hybrids: tough one. But I'll go with a12 proto g

Fairways: I had some proto's...I think they were going to be the 9064ls fairways that were never released

Driver: speedline classic version 2

Those classic drivers… awesome!

Is this the 9064ls fairway you’re talking about? Just picked it up a few weeks ago. Haven’t shafted it up yet. I always assumed it was based on the graphic scheme being the same as the driver.

THESE!

Adams Idea Pro Prototype Hybrid. 16°, 18°, 20°, 22°, 24°, and 26°. Had them. And. Have the 16° through 22° again. Still looking for 24° and 26° reunion.

AND, ALSO....

Adams RPM 3070 DF Prototype Fairway. 13°, 14.5°, 16°, and 18° (I may be off on the 18°, could be 17.5° or 18.5° can't remember). Had them. And. Have the 13° and 14.5° again. Still looking for the 16°.

Adams made some great Fairways, Hybrids, and Irons. Wasn't a fan of their Drivers or Wedges.

I also really loved the 9064LD heads. I still have not hit a driver longer than that head (at least thats what I think lol)

I need to try one of those hybrids. Never did. I guess because I always assumed they were virtually identical to the retail ones. Anything about them that’s different other than the loft only on the sole?

And, yes, SO many good fairways. Hard to keep up with them all but I still pick them up when I see some I don’t have.

Never was a fan of the box style in any brand. When those pro gold squared off hybrids came out I thought I’d love them but never could quite get along with them. I did hit a few of the fairways that were kind of a hybrid of the square and traditional heads ok, but I think I definitely still prefer the traditional look. I imagine I’ll end up with one at some point, though. Lol

I remember them, at the time, being on the heavier side, and being wide open. I haven't yet verified that information on my second go-round with them all.

Bernhard Langer played 2 of them until like 2-3 years ago. I think now, he still utilizes 1 of them.

.....you could say too, that at the time, they were on the flatter side for Hybrids.

Yes!!..I had the 13 and 14.5 degree a d the 18 deg 5 wood. The 5 wood actually had a 9064 moniker instead of the f11. Good for you!...

I usually prefer a 13* fairway but I'm excited to try this one. I'll have to keep an eye peeled for a 13* and 18* if I like it.

I've had a 12.5* tour BTY for years now as my go to fairway. I swear it's longer than my driver when I really hit it well. Such a small and good looking shaped fairway, IMO.

I was blown away how good the CB3's were when I first tried them. Such a good hybrid of player's club and GI, if such a thing is possible. I don't have the retail set any longer, but I do have the tour satin set. I'd like to get another retail set and see if there's any discernible difference between them other than the finish and the satin set having the conforming grooves stamp in the cavity. From what I can recall, they seem identical.
