Old PINGs with a New Twist

I'm leaning in to one length and decided to experiment with my ie1s.  My swingspeed has slowed down and I was planning to reshaft anyway, so now was a good time to do something interesting with them.  The new specs are being based off the length of my OL set (37") which is the 7 iron:

 

4 (21*) @ 37 3/8" D3

5 (24*) @ 37 1/4" D3

6 (27*) @ 37 1/8" D3

7 (30*) @ 37" D3

8 (35*) @ 36 7/8" D3

9 (40*) @ 36 3/4" D3

W (45*) @ 36 5/8" D3

U (50*) @ 36 1/2" D3

S (56*) @ 36 3/8" D3

Let us know how this works out.   My hunch is your distance spreads between clubs will be smaller than the typical 10-12yds that are typical for regular length clubs 

your 4-5-6irons in particular.

My guess is your lie angles will be off, will need to test and adjust as needed.

I'm probably going to put those is the closet anyway as I have a 5 crossover that will work fine to fill the gap.  I'll likely go 25* hybrid, 30* 7 iron through 56* sand wedge.  My aim was to make this a 10 club set.

There's a definite possibility of that.  Given that the length gaps are 1/8", I'll need to experiment a bit to figure out what lies I should have.  I'm going with blue dot for the set to begin with since I'm normally a Green/Blue dot player.

How to you plan on getting all the swingweights to match (D3)? Since the wedges are much longer than standard the swingweights should be very high.

Since I'm having PING do the reshaft, they will pull the backweights and put in new ones that will swing weight them to my specs.

Like minds here...

I saw no benefit in the 4-6 shorter irons, went standard length 6 iron and a 5 crossover. 7- gw are one length.

A 36.5” wedge is long. I wonder how that would affect touch around greens?

I'm going lighter on the shaft and having the Dyla-wedge Lite grip installed.  Gripping down is going to be one of the ways I'll maintain some touch on chips and short pitches.

I will.  I've got another option that I'm going to run with if PING can't get me to my specs.  More on that after I speak with the people in the repair department this week.
