Golf and hunting rangefinder

I would like a rangefinder that will function with both golf and hunting. Is there such a rangefinder? Read a few old articles online but did not specify ABC rangefinder.

Take your pick. Rangefinders will measure to what you point at. Perhaps you’ll want one with a longer distance like 500+ yds. A couple of Bushnells fit the bill and are water/weatherproof.

I looked into it somewhat recently for Bushnell units... from what could find the main difference is that the electronics in the golf version are designed to differentiate the signal reflected off the flag from anything in the background.  I've not tested any hunting lasers so I have no idea if this is actually as important as they made it seem or if they are just trying to justify charging more for the golf rangefinders.

FWIW, hunting and golf rangefinder internals are the same, Bushnell admitted this to me in email years ago.

 

Only delta between hunting and golf rangefinders is labeling, a few badges and charging golfers double the hunting version.

My golfing rangefinder is an old Nikon Monarch 800... I bet its almost 20 years old.  I retired it from hunting 4-5 years back.

 

I have not done a scientific test, but IMO it locks on the flag better than my buddies new Callaway's and Bushnell's that are built "for golf".

 

These golf rangefinders are incredibly basic - I think they are overpriced to be honest.  They *might* have a slightly different algorithm as @grochol17 implies, but who knows. 

 

Any hunting rangefinder you buy will work fine.
