Courses with old ruins/castles/rock walls on them?

Just got back from Ireland and my wife really enjoyed Tralee b/c it had old towers and rock walls from the 12th century on the course (she liked the course too, but that really got her excited).  This got us thinking there must be plenty of other courses across Ireland/Scotland/UK with ruins as well, and might be a fun basis for a trip itinerary.  Thus the question..  What are the best courses with ancient ruins on them?  Any information is greatly appreciated.

Lahinch is the best I've played with castle ruins in view.  Castle Dargan and Ballinrobe both had ruins on the course from our west trip last year.

Pennard has the castle and church ruins. 

 

Of course there is North Berwick. 

 

Renaissance has some ruined walls. 

 

St Enodoc has the church which was dug out from being buried under sand. 

 

Cleeve Hill has the ancient hill fort. 

 

There are more, but that's good for now.

I haven't been yet, but am going to Ardglass in Northern Ireland this fall. Has a clubhouse that was an old castle. Looks awesome.

Tons of courses with walls or towers. Just off the top of my head:

 

North Berwick

Dunbar

Dromoland

 

But there must be hundreds.

Old Head has a cliff side stone structure and a couple stone fences if I recall correctly. But it’s been almost five years. So I won’t guarantee the fences.

The Old Course has a stone marker (with a cover when we played my caddie took off to show me) that has been there for centuries. It has the “G” that is the Golf Channel logo and marked the golf/hunting boundary according to my caddie. 
 

Rock walls abound.

That is the 12th and the church is still used. There is a WW2 bunker on the left of the 6th. Deal has one as well. 

 

Just played North Foreland, there is a ruin of a 1700s folly by 5th green/6th tee. 

 

I recall Wimereaux in France has a massive German bunker used as a tee.

It’s a great hole - and the way that the wall meanders linear diagonally across/along the line of play to the green reminds me of a lot of Pete Dye course hazards - that slow diagonal is one of the toughest things to look at when actually the shot is not that challenging - it’s the interference factor in the visual which is very intimidating.

Those guys way back still knew how to get inside your head! Hehe

Prestwick has a rock wall that runs along the right side of the first hole.  It's not an intimidating tee shot at all.  😃

Adare Manor Golf Club 

 

This is not the club where the Irish Open is held. A local club adjoining the Adare Manor Resort. Lovely small track that was so much fun. If you hit it in the abandon friary walls, you have to play it out. No relief. However the graveyard is OB and can't retrieve your ball.
