Stiffening the tip of a shaft is nothing new - goes back to the Tour AD GP model and even the Fubuki series from Mitsubishi andothers from 2016.

 

Fujikura just took it a step further and marketed it correctly.

I don't believe twisting (torque) and flex are the same thing. I also don't believe that "dual torque core", "dual torsional design", and "variable torque core" simply indicates that one part of the shaft is selectively stiffened. You are correct, stiff tip shafts have been around for a long time. This is control over the flex of the shaft, which can be observed in a bend profile. May be a bit of marketing jargon to sell product, but modifying the shaft's ability to twist in different sections of the shaft is something slightly different. In most cases, stiffer means lower torque. I think manufacturers are suggesting they can now separate torque from flex and modify them independent from each other.

None of them mean anything. Just mealy mouth marketing words. Most of the shaft companies except Mitsubishi have the same materials available to them. It’s just a matter of how many plies in which orientation.
