Hey guys looking to see what everyone is gaming for 5 wood, kicking the hybrid out of the bag as I never use it. Looking to go 5 wood route

Was a 5 wood guy until I tried the UW 19*.

Depending on the course I play I always have a 5 wood that I can aggressively use to shoot for the green, and then either a low spin 3 wood or low spin 5 wood for when I'm just trying to get distance with reasonable safety

 

Favorite clubs:

 

- Stealth 2+ 5 wood with the weight all the way in - gives me the distance of a regular 3 wood, with the consistency of my 5 wood. Incredible club, goes stupid far

- OG Stealth 5 wood - incredibly forgiving, the toe and the sweetspot can be used interchangeably - really good for fairways and optimal lies

- Rogue ST Max 5 wood - I love it to death, it produces such an optimal flight, good distance and plenty spin to shoot for greens. It's a pretty small head with a sharp leading edge so I can use it from light rough very effectively

TSR 2 very forgiving head, not as big as the Ping FW but a taller face. Very consistent club that I really like in the bag. Ball lands soft because of a high ball flight.

Still working the upper end of the bag.  I recently added a TSR2 driver which has added 20 yards off the tee but now have a bigger gap between that and my 4H.  Currently rotating some combo of UW19 and G425 5W and 7Ws depending on the course but don’t think the UW or 5W fill the gap well enough

Abandoned my Rogue ST 5w and put the Ping G400 5w turned down back in the bag. Should have never left it.

I just got a TSi 5 wood that I love, really nice classic compact head. I have it turned up to 19.5* so it sits between my 16.5* TSi 4 wood and my 22* Titleist U-505 4 iron.

I game the Mizuno STZ 3w/5w with a Kai’li White 70g X-flex in both. 
 

I had a brief fling with G430 fairway’s earlier in the year, but the Mizuno’s just fit my eye better. In standard position, they sit neutral vs closed like most fairway woods.

 

Distance wise, I think they are as far as anything. I love the sound and feel as well. 
 

These two fairway woods may be with me for many years regardless of other changes to my bag.

a few years old but I game both a Callaway Epic Flash 5W and 3W (sub zero). I put a Fujikara Speeder 757 TX in the 3W and it's a bomber, use my 5W for those 240yd shots....they're both amazing clubs.

The trusty Epic Flash is still there after 4 years. It gets swapped out for a 19* hybrid or 18* UDI depending on season and course type.
 

Most of the time it’s lofted up 1 degree and has a Hazrdus Smoke x flex 3 wood shaft cut back to 0.5” short of standard 5 wood length. this allows it to gap perfectly with the Srixon F85 3 wood and whatever is in the 4 iron/ equivalent hybrid slot.

TSi3 5w, with AD DI, never hit a fairway wood so consistently and straight

Ltdx ls 5w. It's my only FW.  Don't miss a 3w. Just added a cobra tec 4hy, hoping for about a 20 yard gap. 

 

It's turned down a degree, heavy weight in toe, tensei white. It wants to hit a high slight cut, but I can turn it over as well.

Mine's a touch older.  910f with a made-for 'ahina. ~42".  Usually play with it at 19.75 (?  1 click more lofted) degrees, which gaps well with my 22 degree 4-iron.  Can hit low runners, high floaters that stop in 6' from >200.  Nice out of rough.

Same here.. but..I have my shaft from my Cobra Radspeed Big Tour 3/14.5° in the 5 wood. Rarely do I even hit the  3/14.5° so it sits at home in a box..:)

Other option is same type of deal.. Ping G400 5 / 17.5° Ping Tour 75x @ 43"

G430 5-wood.  So easy to hit off the deck.  I can get it out to about 250 and it comes in like a wedge.  A real weapon for attacking par 5’s in 2.

917f3 5w. Lofted down and open to play more like a 4w. Plays to about 240-250 off the tee, 230-240 off the deck. Then UW22 and a 4h dHy before the 5 iron. I used to play a 3w but the 260 ball off the tee wasn't as needed as a reliable fairway off the deck.

Toying with a Ping G410 5w to do the work of both the 3w and 7w so I can get my bag down to 12 clubs for walking.  For context, all three have PX EF Black shafts; 3w is 75g @42.75", 5w is 75g @42.5", and 7w is 85g @41.5".

 

Experimented with the Ventus TR Red 7x, but didn't get along with it like I was hoping (I also tried to make an Atmos Red work, and I think I just prefer a more stable tip in the FW shafts).  A Ventus Black may be in the future at some point, but I'm still trying to dial in a comfortable length and weight.  It probably ends up somewhere between 41.5-42.5" and 75-85 grams, but it's going to play a lot different as longer and lighter than it will shorter and heavier.

 

I'm also still playing with the loft, but it's generally sitting around 17-18*.  To replace both the 3w and 7w, I need this club to cover a carry range of 215-240ish, and I want to comfortably be able to work the ball both ways.

 

I'm already 100% prepared to ditch the 3w, as I only use it maybe 1-2 times per round, if that.  I'm much less ready to get rid of the 7w, which is a bit of a security blanket.  If I can get more comfortable with a high, soft fade on the 5w, then the 7w will finally be put out to pasture.

 

If it doesn't work out, there's a world in which I get to 12 clubs by just ditching the 3 wood and going from Driver to 7 wood to 4 iron.  I just won't be able to sniff as many par 5 greens in two, but maybe that's not a bad thing.

Have had stealth 1/2 + models but they go too far. This one is just right. Can hit it 220 with a cut, or 240 with a draw.  Launches high with enough spin to hold greens easily.

5 wood is my only wood, I play the Aerojet and then my next club is a P790 3 iron. 

 

These modern woods go so far I personally don't think a 3 wood is necessary.

TSR3 5 wood, with weight all the way in the toe setting. Past attempts at 5 wood resulted in hitting a lot of high swoopy draws/hooks. Currently my favorite club in the bag. Small head, deep face, launches super easy and I feel like I can hit some different shots with it vs. it just being point and shoot or a hook machine.

 

Previously, I had:

-Mizuno STZ: loved the deep face, easy launch, tended to hit swoopy hooks, probably the wrong shaft

-Ping G425: hated the shallow face, easy launch, spinny, kind of an off the deck only club for me which was limiting 

-Callaway UW 19*: loved the shape, face depth and length, hit a bit too low and at times way too hot

-Taylormade SIM ti: great shape, face depth, easy launch, hit swoopy hooks, and at times went too far
