I've personally never been a hybrid guy, I get that left miss going. I was recomended a 5w by my fiance and it just worked. Goes high into par 5s and I feel I can control the shape more.

I switch between a Cobra F8 5W set at 20* and a DHY at 19*.  If I'm playing a super tight course or I know it will be windy or the conditions are dry, I'll go with the DHY.  If they're normal then 5W it is!  Also, I'm a big, big, fan of the 5W that Cobra does with rails.  I really think that it helps stop me from "digging".

 

From the distances the DHY looks a little out of place, but I'll only use it when the fairways are running super hot!

TSR 2 18 degree 5 wood with Tensei 1K Black 75g shaft at 42.75 inches (more like a 3 wood shaft length). Absolutely love this club, can use it off the deck or off the tee and provides a level of forgiveness I haven't previously been able to achieve. Ball flight is high and shaft combo feels so stable

TSR3 Di 7X. Its extremely versatile and can hit any shot with it. I used to like a higher flight in my 5w in the past but I find myself hitting it as a rescue often and the smaller head really helps.

I'm trying to stick with a tour Sim Max @ 17.9* , playing length 42", only fairway in the bag.

 

But I keep wanting to put my ping g400 16.9* back in the bag as I like it better off the tee. Playing length is 41.75"

TSi2 for me. On the flat setting and built to 41.75". The short length is just better off the deck when needed and I like keeping 3w in the bag for a handful of tee shots at the home club.

Did exact same thing, never got along with hybrids.  Titleist TSR2 5w with Ventus TR Red 7s

Found it with a factory Tensei AV blue at 4W length - need to decide to have it cut down half an inch or just choke up on it.

Cobra F6 Baffler with AD DI 8s. There is not a better setup for hitting a fairway wood off the deck.

For a 5 wood, I use a Ping G425 7 wood  head with a 42.5" MR Tensei Orange R shaft.

I set the head to the open position which decreases the loft 1.5 degree.

This setup creates a smaller head 5 wood that sets up open (my miss is left).

More reliable than a hybrid...

Cobra Radspeed is my 5 wood.  Upgraded from the Cobra F7 5 wood after about 5 years.  Long and forgiving.  Super easy to hit.

 

I have a Tsi3 3 wood as well.  I stayed with Cobra in the 5 wood because of the baffler rails.  Just gives me extra confidence if I hit it fat.  Keeps the head tracking down the line and still produces good enough contact to advance the ball on really poor swings.

Saw this thread and it got me thinking... I really like my Big Bertha Alpha 816 16* and it would be awesome to have a 5W to mess with, so I spent 2 hours last night digging around for a used one on various sites... then I realized I can turn the loft up 2*. 

 

But I guess that doesn't help if I want a 15* AND 18* in the bag.

I use a 915f turned down to 17.25 with an aldila rogue black 85x. I match my 3 wood with shaft and this club has been amazing. Straighter than a 2 hybrid, easy off the deck and tee. I love it!!!

I played one round kicking out my 5W for the 915H 2H I found before deciding I much preferred to have both of them in the bag.

Yep. Hands down best fairway wood ever played. This club even kicked my '07 burner TP out which was about the only club I thought had a permanent spot.
