Its imaginative but, the VF certainly has a distinct feel. Think it has something to do with the tight handle reacting to the ball at impact. It doesn't jive with a lack luster swing from me, It's still GD smooth, but requires a hard loader to swing it.

Agree 100%.  The faster I swing, the more alive the VF becomes if that makes sense.  Ball launches lower when I put an easy swing on it whereas its launches higher while still maintaining low spin the faster I swing.

the 6x 1.25" sounds intersting.. wonder if its a stiffer tip softer handle 6tx tipped 1"..

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. 7TX is surely more stout in the handle comparatively as one would assume.

I was nervous the 6X would be too loose, but it's been performing exceptionally well for 3 rounds or so, and I've put some hard swings on it.  Really like the way it loads comparatively to the TX

I'm the opposite.  I want my driver shaft to be as stiff as possible without it feeling like rebar.  VF in TX is a unicorn in that it CPM out in the 280's while still being ultra smooth yet still has enough stability.  Normally, I find that I have to give up one for another.  It also stays with me when I step on one.  X was a bit more prone to lefts and had a hint more load/kick which turned me off.  It's not often I sing praises about shafts but the VF needs to be put on a pedestal, lol.  Doesn't hurt that it's Tiger approved either.

Did you test the X tipped over 1 inch, or just .5? If mine was tipped any less than the 1.25, I could tell that it probably wouldn't work.

I like stiff shafts, and no doubt like the TX, but when it came to on-course performance the X tipped a bunch outshined it for sure on my end. The TX was a sim hero for me and performed decent outside, but I think the load on the X is just something special - wonder if thats why you see it on tour.

I stepped on most of my drives depending on the hole (relative obviously) and most carried around 305-330 and the X handled it perfect, and my miss is a snap left. For me, the tipping and some lead tape on the toe keep it from going left, whereas the TX I could get pully when I'm out of sync

The profile is definitely unreal and my favorite to date without a doubt. I wouldn't be surprised to see it creep in more bags after the season.  I think it behaves better the more you can load it

It was tipped an inch.  The guys on tour that game the VF are most likely going X for feel.  The tour pro I train says that feel is the most important for him and his peers because if the shaft doesn't feel right, most will move onto to something else even if the numbers are there.

Yea thats essentially how I felt. Regardless the profile is a beast, really want to get an 8X in 3W to test, but haven't seen them anywhere to try out

Luckily, I was able to test the 8X at the local store.  My buddy who's the assistant manager there was able to get one as a demo.  It was tipped 1.5 inches and felt good and numbers were ok but prone to the lefts for me.  It's too bad I can't get ahold of or test the 8TX(tour only).  However, I have no complaints about the Diamana GT that's in my 3 metal.

Lucky - Based on your experience, do you think tipping the 8X an extra half inch would help, or was the 1.5 stiff enough?

Have only tried the GT in Driver, will likely try to test in in 3W. Gt was much better than Zf for me, but i liked the feeling of the ZF

I have this thing where tipping more than 1.5 inches scares me.  It believe 8X tipped 1.5 will feel stiff enough for you since you're playing the 6X and liking it.  I had the GT 70TX for driver and while it felt smooth, it had a very subtle kick in the mid which is obviously different than the VF that threw me off.  Strangely enough, the mid kick feels fine for 3 metal though.  However, I don't really step on it with 3 metal so that maybe why it works so well in 3 metal.

Yea that was my problem as well, I also had the GT 70TX in driver and somedays it was just a bit more off than I liked.

I’ve got a Qi10 Core “dot” head on the way for testing just for this reason. In Qi10 LS was sitting in the 16-1900 range. My TR Black broke at the adapter this weekend, it’s getting replaced but playing tomorrow with a VF 5X playing 44.75” in my current Stealth 2 Plus head. Was able to scrounge up a heavier back TSS weight to get SW right-ish and hopefully keep spin up enough. Took the Ventus breaking as a sign and locked in the VF for the 4W as well 😅

I want to love the dot head, but even turned all the way down and a good chunk of lead tape on the toe I could not get comfortable with it and kept getting a left miss. Playing the 5X at 44.5” tipped 1.5” in my Stealth 2 Plus head as spin numbers were comparable to the dot for me while Qi10 LS was too low spin. Just playing with weights now.

Looking to add 10-16g to the head and have variety of slider and rear weights. Testing 4 setups: All extra weight in rear (15g -> 25/29), all extra weight in front (15g->25), two sliders (15g -> 12 heel, 15 toe), mostly rear (15/15g -> 19/21 or 19/25).

7X at 42.5” tipped 1” in my 4W. Will probably stick with the Stealth 2 Plus to match 😅Looks like no Qi10 for me after all. Fargiveness it is 😉

Current -> Coming

Stealth 2 Plus 10.5@9, 45” Ventus TR Black 6X -> Stealth 2 Plus 10.5, 44.5” AD VF 5X

Stealth 2 Plus 15@14, 43.5” Ventus TR Black 7X -> Stealth 2 Plus 16.5, 42.5” AD VF 7X

Stealth 2 Plus 18@17, 43” Ventus TR Black 7X -> P-DHY 3i, Axiom 105X

P790 3i [email protected], Axiom 105X -> ZX5 MkII 4i/ C05TP 4i, Axiom 125X

Just picked up a VF 7TX.  Despite all the feedback of smooth feel I was still expecting it to feel quite stout, but cant believe how much feel it has.  Need to hit some more balls with it but really like it so far.

How is the AD VF compared to a Tensei black profile and feel wise?

VF is light year's smoother.  1K Black lacked feel for me.  EI profile wise it's a classic white board where it's gotta a stiff tip and handle with a softer handle.  VF is similar in that regard.

Put a 5x in my QI 10LS  a few weeks ago. I liked the head but my flight just never seemed right. So I decided to give the VF a go hoping for a more powerful flight. Had to dial in loft settings at 8.25 and the weight is a bit fade side now. I’m not one to bs on here about forgiveness or distance gains but I’m shocked at how my driving has totally came to life the past two rounds. I’ve honestly picked up 15 yards off the tee and my ball flight is so good it’s ridiculous. Mid high flight and when it arcs it’s just penetrating further down range. Something about the feel under the grip just let’s me know when it’s go time and I find it so easy to get it square.  So glad I made the switch. For me it just feels how I’ve wanted a shaft to feel. I’m 50 now and been tinkering a lot transitioning from what’s always worked to what works now and this is the best driver shaft I’ve used in 5 years

had this shaft for about a good week and a half. the tip section rivals Ventus black while feeling smoother than Ventus black. IMO It's the best feeling shaft out there for those who load the shaft moderately hard to hard and are aggressive through impact. classic GD feel with a twist of adding a rock solid tip section. hats off to graphite design on this one.

To add to this, the UB and VF are the only two GD shafts that I can fade on command.  Everything else was prone to the lefts.  I was playing Coto de Caza(North) on Wednesday and hit a lot of low cuts in order to try and keep in the short grass as accuracy is a premium on both courses.  The only other shaft that I can do this with consistently is the TR Black.

sounds like you like to play a similar flight as Max Homa as well as similar shafts in the past (TR black).

I agree the tip section is outstanding on the VF it really helps with those who fight the lefts. It's quite impressive how GD made a shaft rivaling Velocore especially for how well known GD is for it's smoothness. For a GD shaft, VF seems to come alive at 95-100% swings but you can really be consistent with it even when swinging 95-100%.
