Golfstat is gone?

Just saw that Golfstat in the form I came to rely upon as a tool for getting my boys recruited is no more.

 

What is going to replace it?

Hope spikemark's upload speed, user interface and general experience ie. teeny fonts, all improve. I just gave up waiting for it to load the rankings.

 

Feels like it's in beta testing mode. Hope this is not the final product.

From what I understand, most everything on the site right now is just a few placeholders for more data that will be coming down the line. There were lots of mentions on various social media sites of people going in and screenshotting their stats to keep them in case it went south.

Golfstat is going away. They’ll continue to try and sell their services but likely only for obscure events.

Spikemark so far is a complete disaster.   Current tournaments show no scores.  The previous tournaments aren't loading correctly.  The schedule isn't right.   I'm not sure anything at all is right on the entire site.   Also the main page looks horrible.

 

As of now this transition looks like a ginormous mistake.  Lowest cost technically insufficient ... just like govt contracts

Was just texting with HH or maybe having beers don't actual remember now.  He thinks SpikeMark sucks. Was a solution in search of a problem?

This is really disappointing.  I would love to have golfstat back.   Spike mark was running slow even before any tournaments started.  You could tell this would happen.   I wonder if the ncaa can get out of the contract and go back to golfstat.

Highly unlikely they pull a contract from a former D1 coach (UCLA) that also won a national championship.

Well, it’s still not working.  They paid for a product that doesn’t even work.  I don’t care what his background is at this point.  I would consider it a breach of contract for failure to provide a service.   It was running slow even before tournaments started.  Everyone could see this was going to happen.

Are we sure that even works at this point.  The website and App is a disaster.

This is big deal.  College golf is trying to get recognition and is currently really growing.  This is a setback.  Grandparents, friends, and casual fans are not going to know how to keep up with scores now.  Everyone knew to go to golfstat.   They will get frustrated with Spikemark and give up.  Not many know how to jump around to alternative sites like golf genius that are randomly placed on instagram bio pages.   
 

Even if it ever starts working,  I wouldn’t trust this to determine rankings and who goes to the NCAA regionals.  They have most likely falsely claimed a cyber attack.   They can’t be trusted in my opinion.

Did they resolve the cyber attack?  Most times they offenders don't just back off.  What safe guards did they put in place. 

 

Not a good look. 

 

Like I told HH as we were hammering back beers and cat calling.  PKBT might loan them their live scoring for the season.

No way it was a cyber attack.  The site was running slow even before tournaments started.  It’s a way to deflect from the fact that they weren’t ready.  This is a big deal because college golf is trying to grow.  I have friends and family who know golfstat.  They are not going to be able to go to random golf genius pages that are linked by a bio in Instagram.   
 

It’s scary to think they are in charge of rankings now too.  No credibility at all.

My son's a computer science major playing for a D1 school. His first event was just covered on golfgenius. No idea why.

 

Also, he is surprised by how bad the site is because according to him, it is not a technically difficult task to collate data and present it.

Before the site even officially launched and was supposed to be used for scoring / ranking it was slow and unusable. You couldn't open each tournament in a new tab by right clicking on it. You couldn't see the players who were playing in events. You couldn't do anything that people used Golfstat for. I think they realized how big of a miss it was to the end users and are having to scrap it and start over. 

 

If you'll notice, there are lots of NCAA sports that have 'Live" scoring like golf and none of those have gone through a cyber attack and they all are working just fine.

Teams are posting their Golf Genius ID’s on Instagram because spikemark still isn’t working.

Image a website and app where you could see upcoming tournaments and past result.  An App that has live scoring.

 

Click the tournament and see a team lineup.

 

Oh yea that's right we had that in golfstat.  I hope whoever monkeyed this up at the NCAA gets the ax.

 

Meanwhile beg Golfstat to come back and sent Spikemark on their way.  It's a joke at this point.

Not officially back but picking up some of the slack. You have to remember; they were given the boot. It's not as if they just decided to stop reporting.

Tried to lookup scores on Spikemark today and the main page keeps saying Update Required and no matter how many times I click on Refresh Now it just pops back up.

Ok, last post on this today... It looks like the Valero Texas Collegiate decided to only report scores to Golfstat. The spikemark site is empty. And this is a pretty significant event with the winner (Joe Sullivan) getting an invite into the next PGAT Valero Texas Open.
