World Championship(s)

Question for the board. I have noticed that there are a lot of “World Championships” and world champions being touted on Instagram and social media (especially under the age of 12). So which one is the best or most worthy to be called a World Championship? Here is the list off the top of my head: IMG Junior Worlds, Future Champions World, US Kids Worlds, Under Armour and World Stars of Golf. I’m sure there are more but can’t think of any. I don’t think any of them really matter until 15-18 and the ones that do are usually sponsored by the PGA or USGA.

When asked if he was headed to IMG Junior Worlds. BTW, if you're not following Ryan Frazer on Twitter you're missing out on a lot of junior golf info.

The truth of the matter is that none of them matter under 12. We did USK Worlds, only because it was convenient to play local tours and qualify and daughter (and I) wanted to play after watching Short Game. We are west coast, but having to go play in events in SD to qualify for IMG was too much to hassle with. She went to USK Worlds at 9. I don't really care to grind out to go to any other events...plus her age IMG plays on a par 3 course. Happy to pass on that.

Basically, go enter which ever ones are convenient for your family. Our kids aren't winning it anyways 😂

I'd say IMG carries the most weight as a 'world championship' tournament, but only for age 13+ boys. The 15-18 at Torrey is a very good tournament with many past winners currently playing professionally.
