Leadbetter Academy @ Orlando

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to get some 'serious' training. We are planning a family vacation in Feb. to Orlando and decided to sign up for the 3-day players school @ Leadbetter's facility.

I first picked up a club when I was 14 and didn't really start playing heavy until I was 21 or so (6 years ago). I never had a training session in my life and somehow managed to have a 6 handicap. I finally managed to break par a couple times last season and decided it's time to take my game to a new level and started working out and improving my flexibility.

Does anybody have any experience working with the folks at Leadbetter and what should I expect? I'm pretty excited just to get out and get on a course. There's about 8" of snow here in MI.

I can only say I've been going to the Leadbetter Academy for 4 years. I can generally get down to Florida twice a year and see the same instructor for a private lesson. I have not particicpated in the player's school but I can say that I am very satisfied with the entire experience. I'm from MN so I'm going to Florida at the end of the month and in February.

YAY! Leaving tomorrow. Lessons are scheduled 23rd-25th. I hope the weather holds up. Fortunatley I recovered from a broken ankle since the last time I posted on this thread. I will be sure to take some pics and post my progress.

I'm scheduled to be with Andrew Park for my instructor. I'm pretty excited and not sure what to really expect.

It'll be interesting to hear your experiences, especially as you've never had any lessons. Even though you're a strong player, don't be surprised if you're doing some things "unconventionally" and they may try and make some significant swing changes (maybe not, but more than likely).

Having gone through this the past 2 years or so--it's frustrating. Definitely (for me) 4 steps back to go 5 steps forward (but in the long run, worth it).

Keep us posted on your progress...been wanting to go to an instructional vacation for some time

First day is complete of my 3 day training. All I can say is WOW. This place is a top-notch facility. The first day was much more grueling than anticipated and well worth every penny. My major swing faults were immediatley recognized and drills were performed to correct them. By the end of the day I was seeing a big improvement. Still a lot of work to needs to be done but there is major process in the works. Tomorrow we'll be working on putting and bunker play and also be working with a sports psychologist on the 'mental' game. Gotta rest up, another long day tomorrow. ;)
