They've been on the JDM market a couple years now, they are a weight sorted Dynamic Gold just like the "Tour Issue" one we're all used to, but they use a small insert of some sort to make up for any variation in weight. 

Interestingly they advertise the Weight Lock X100 as a 132g shaft instead of the 130g for the standard X100, so if I had to guess they are merely finding a way to discard less inventory in the weight sorting process. Any shafts that fall outside the advertised +/-0.5g sorting tolerance of the Tour Issue models can now be "Weight Locked" and sold at a premium. And since they can sometimes end up over 130g because of the +/- 2g tolerance of standard Dynamic Golds, they build that into the spec of the shaft so they can use those too. 

It all feels like the byproduct of a "how can we make more money with the same product" board meeting.

That is the Corporation way after all...   and I suspect you are 100% accurate with that assumption.

The PRGR ID Nabla Black line of woods and irons came out in 2012 and are well-regarded.
