Titleist TSi2 fairway wood adjusting hosel

Recommended Posts

Been playing most of the season with my 16.5 degree in the a1 setting. Then changed it to D4 to get a little more loft but without adding face closure. For some reason started hitting it more heelside. Is it just me or is there some logic to this?
and for you who has tried this wood, would you say there is a draw bias?

There isn't an adjustable hosel out there that increases loft without slightly closing the face. FWIW I've found the TSi2 head to be the most neutral fairway wood in a long time.

The TSi2 (vs TSR2) is/was better for me as well.

The answer to better golf is hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Adding loft will add some face closure. For me if it looks closed instinctually I will shift my path out which invariably means more heel shots.

I just picked up TSR2 16.5* to replace TSi2 16.5*.   A few rounds in, and I'm thinking about switching back.  Prefer the sound/feel of the TSi2, and it seems to be more forgiving on off-center hits.

@mizunotpz, generally speaking, decreasing loft will open the face a bit, and increasing loft will close it.  In theory, B4 is 1* flat which should offset the face closure from lofting up. But I'm not sure its that straightforward.

But to your main question, but seeing a tendency towards a heelside strick after the move to B4... I've seen very detailed discussions on this subject, which suggest that this is a very complicated equation.  Changing the setting can definitely have an impact on strike location.  Your swing dynamics may do better at A1 than at B4, for reasons that are way beyond my level of knowledge.

Yes I will change back, might even go same loft but flatter just to test.

This is normally where these things come from. We see something different down by the ball and make conscious or unconscious moves to compensate for what we think that “different” is going to do to the ball flight. Face and lie angle differences often triggering changes to your grip, takeaway moves, even sequencing and completeness of turn. All of these will influence delivery and thus strike tendencies.

True. Went to B1-setting today and started smoking it time after time. Worked hard on my swing now and it starts to pay off. Bad shot is a hook but thats when I get handsy. Worked on half swings with more of a fade finish to get my hands/arms more infront of me through impact.
