Which Irons?

I have a set of the new RAC LT's w/ the stock DG shafts in them in a stiff flex. Feel pretty good and the ball seems to jump off the face of each club. Not too sure about the "LT" designation as these seem to have a pretty high ball flight.

I just picked up a set of new RAC CB's with the DG X100 shafts. These are forged by Miura (label on the 5 shaft states the head were made in Japan). According to Taylormade, this is a sure bet these were forged by Miura.

Both feel pretty good to me. I don't think one is really more forgiving than the other, to me a mis-hit is a mis-hit whether you play forged or cast clubs.

What kind of results can I expect from the X100's over the stock "stiff" in the LT's? My driver ss varies between 105 and tops out on avergae, around 110-112. Would I be able to handle X'flex irons with this ss?

Can't help you much with the shafts flex, as in my experience that is a very personal preference. I actually have similar swing speed numbers to you and much prefer an iron flex closer to a light stiff - like a 5.5 on the rifle scale or a soft-stepped s300. Just my personal preference. I say go hit the CBs and if they work - they work.

 

As for the choice, I will tell you this. I have owned tour issued sets of both irons, and if you think your game can handle the CBs, then keep them. Period. In my experience, they are better clubs than the LT2s, but more importantly, they are a limited edition set, and if you get rid of them you may never find another set like them - especially if yours are true Miuras. Even if you can find a set, it is rare to find them with the sticker still attached, so it is nearly impossible to determine whether they were Miuras or not. If you decide you don't like them, you can always pick up another set of LTs very cheap. Heck, the older versions of the LTs often go for less than $200 on sites like this and on ebay.

 

My opinion is to keep them both, but in any event keep the CBs if you have to choose. They are true classics, and may be hard to replace in the event you regret selling them. On the other hand, the LTs are very accessible.

Thanks for the reply. All the original stickers are still on the shafts and it states the heads were made in Japan. I guess that signifies true Miura?
