Flat Cobra Adapter?

I dont know about a Flat specific adaptor, but I know Rickie has used a left handed adaptor on purpose. I believe for a RH, the LH adaptor will be open in draw position and you are able to go lower lofted.

Loft and Lie limits are set by the limits of the adapter. All Cobra +/- 1.5* adapters are THE SAME except for the markings. LH, RH, Draw, Fade.... they all have 1.5* over and under standard, whatever standard may be for a given driver.

So the left handed adapter would accomplish what I’m looking for in a RH head?

Sounds like this is the way to go then. Thanks

I don't think this is right. Using a LH adapter will just make the loft adjustment go in the opposite direction. Instead of lower loft it will be higher, and vice versa. All adapter positions away from std loft/lie will be more upright. Unfortunately, the flattest lie angle you can achieve is at standard loft.

Side note: the Aerojet lineup has a flatter lie angle than previous Cobra lines.

I think this is correct.  I play a RH Cobra driver and my son plays a LH Cobra driver.  Some shafts we use have the LH adapter and some have the RH adapter and we use all of them pretty frequently and I have never noticed the LH shafts to be flatter.

@Ri_Redneck has it right.  Cobra adapters are very simple.  They are all the same, just with different markings.  This is not a bad thing.  You have to have different markings for LH use.

I don’t know what Fowler uses.  If it’s a stock LH piece, it would be the same.

I'm interested in experimenting with an LTDx or Aerojet…but they are too upright for me in stock settings

Is that in just appearance? If so then thats a personal preference.

Cause cobra is 57.5* at standard which is on par with the flattest setting drivers come in besides the one off of stealth2+ at 54* but stealth2 is 56*. More so titleist is 58.5* can go low as 57.5*, callaway lowest is 57* with a flat adapter 56*, ping starts at the most upright setting and its flattest is prob around 57* as well.

Besides stealth2+ all the OEM drivers are in the same range for lowest lie angle. Just because an OEM can go flat in an adapter does not mean it goes flatter than ones that do not.

It exists, sort of.  If you can get your hands on a King Limited Hosel, it had 3 fade/flat settings.  Now, I have no clue if that will actually do anything on these new models as it was designed for the King Limited Pro, which presumably had a head that worked with the flat settings.  https://www.golfwrx.com/356688/2016-gear-trials-driver-analysis-cobra-king-ltd-pro/

I am on the quest for the clubs I hit the best, feel and looks be darned.

@Ri_Redneck and @Snowman9000 are correct as I understand it.  All the adapters are all physically the same - just labeled differently.  It was the various heads that were designed with a different lie angles to allow them to play more flat.

No, just just appearance. The LTDx is 58.5 in 10.5 and goes up as you make loft adjustments iirc. The Aerojet is flatter, but I’m probably starting at a 10.5* head and honestly didn’t want to pay the premium for the new head when I also got some good # with the LTDx. I guess I could look at a 9.0 Aerojet and go up in loft but it’s not flattening much.

I’m short. So the regular lies of most woods aren’t great for me when my miss is a hook. I play a 44.5” shaft which helps, but I still like something flatter. In cally heads would normally need to go with an LS model to get the flatter lie and I’ve used red dots in the past.

I’m honestly not worried about what other oems can do, as I’m specifically asking about the Cobra stuff. I absolutely loved the feel, ballspeed and launch characteristics of the LTDx and Aerojet, but everything was a draw and I’m not interested in changing my swing for a driver. I wanted to know what my options were to get these specific heads as flat as possible. Seems like a LH adapter is the way to go. I’ll give Cobra a call sometime to confirm too. Just figured the gurus here would have some quick feedback (which they did).

I see your predicament. I play a LTDxLS and it looks and plays more flat than stated imo. Not going to that LS head you might be SOL.

Post what comes about with the call with cobra. Cause from my understanding adapters that do not have cogs dont really change based on dexterity. The adapter just rotates about the hosel with the adapter having a slight angle going in. Having it go the other direction shouldnt change the orientation.

What shaft were you fit for?  Sometimes counterbalanced shafts are harder to turn over for people because of the weight closer to your hands it can act a bit like resistance.  You want to try one of the PX offerings in that head if you can if you haven't already.

Here's the best example. Go to Cobragolf.com and look at all of the Aerojet driver models. They all use THE SAME adapter. But, they have different STANDARD lie angles. The heads are designed with a specific lie angle range that is controlled by moving the adapter. The Max has a 58.2* std lie and the LS has a 56.2* lie. That 2* difference is in the HEAD bore, not the adapter. The OG LTD Pro had the same thing in relation to the LTD, but they marked the LTD Pro adapter "STD" in the most upright position and then marked the flattest position "Fade" where the LTD had "STD" marked in the flattest position and "Draw " in the most upright position.

You are not going to get anything different by switching to a LH or any different Cobra adapter than the one your driver came with.
