Sliding instead of turning into the ball

Need drill or thoughts on this

My friend and I noticed that I was sliding into the ball at impact and not turning into the ball. The only way for me to feel this correctly was to invision turn my right hip at the ball on the way up to the top of my backswing. Will this create more problems or am I one the right track??????

Here's a couple thing which I work on when my turn starts to slide....

 

1. Practice swings with left foot (if you're a righty) turned in, which will limit hip turn and allow upper body to finish swing, and will feel like you're more on your right side through the ball.

 

2. Check ball position: ball usually sneaks farther forward in your stance than you think, ball position for a driver should be inside left foot, PW just left of center. Put club on ground perpendicular to target and tee ball up at end. Check ball position this way.

 

3. Practice swings lifting left foot on backswing and stepping down to normal width at address during downsing. (like a baseball swing, planting lead foot) This will also limit hip turn, making upper body initiate turn.

 

I find that myself sliding is most caused by ball posisiton too far forward, and leaning out farther to hit the ball. When this happens my hips turn way open ahead of the ball and push shots. I hope these drills may be of some use.
