This.  It's annoying to scroll thru multiple posts about someone's hatred of capitalism.

@GolfWRX_Official the weenies are picking on me.

It’s a fair point, keep scrolling if you don’t want to read it. I know I’m not the only one who’s sick of the hype machine pushing marginally different product.

they are going to try and push these out to the public sooner, around august is the goal as said by local Titleist rep. Also i know this is covering the woods but was also told they will be releasing a counterbalance putter, not sure what head.

It's the Phantom 11 Long Design; it will be available in May.

@txbadger  I’m not trying to troll, I thought I was making a valid point. I realize this thread isn’t ideal for my commentary.

I’m just a frustrated golfer who has too much time on his hands waiting for weather to clear and my season to start.

appreciate the response.  I try to refrain from snarky responses (don't always succeed) but your comment I couldn't pass up.    I understand those who want to label a release as just marketing garbage... even so I don't know how one can make such a determination until they've hit it... understand even less when no details or pictures exist.   Seems like complaining for complaining sake.

I am a Titleist fan, but can't imagine them improving on TSR3.  Super forgiving, long as anything I have ever hit, launches super high with very little spin, feels 1000 times better than these junky carbon drivers, and looks perfect at address.  What more could you possibly want?

We need a TSGod3 & TSGod2

All hints of club improvement are totally marketing BS. I started playing golf in 1966. Love me my Persimmon woods, Spaulding irons. Hagan wedges. Wilson putter. I call BS on all these new-fangled marketing gimmicks. They are just greedy OEMs selling me snake oil! I'm smart enough not to fall for the marketing hype!!!

Acushnet Patent Application for ATI

More illustrations looking like Tsi

check the patent application to see drawings of their driver.

Based on the patent it looks like a thermoformed carbon sole and carbon face bonded to an injection molded skirt.  The references to the aft clubhead tells me that the face and the front of the head are going to remain the Titanium/ATI Ti.

Figures 23-31 remind me of a 63 split window design, with some heavy jailbreak flavors.

There’s quite a bit in this patent, looks to me that there are four different club heads covered in this.  Common across the different head types are the internal frame/structures that tie the sole and crown, and composite body with Ti cup face.  I am definitely looking forward to this release.  Not enough improvement for me to go from a TSi4 to a TSR4, one of these will likely end up in my bag.

The bigger takeaway is that it looks like the shaft adapter is going to change, and rather significantly based on the drawings. If this holds, its likely to mean the end of backwards compatibility on Titleist shafts without an adapter upgrade of some sort.

I'm not sure that is true... it looks like this just shows how 1744 mates with 1742.   The crown portion of 1744 looks the same as current imo.

You're right, I had to re-orient the photo.  For 1744 to mate into 1742 from the top, the slots would have to be cut/machined all the way through, and the drawing shows them stopping halfway.

Right-handed. I don't understand what you mean lol

D1/C1 are the most open settings, C4 lofts up and actually closes the face, so if you're lamenting the closed appearance at address it's at least partially because of the setting you're using. Go grab your wrench!

Ho Lee Sh**. I've played the SureFit adapters since the 917 and I'm just now realizing that.... So going above B1 (C4, B4) actually closes the face, and doesn't loft up and lay more flat.....hahahaha.  My little adjustment book doesn't say "closed" up there, but the one I just checked online does.

I do understand that just lofting up alone will close the face, just not sure why I assumed that the adapter had the compensation for that built in somehow. I don't know why I even thought that was possible. LOL. Man, I sure do appreciate that.

Hmm...I'm looking at several different charts right now, and it appears that C4 does show to be .75 degrees upright and .5 degrees open

It's definitely a topic that trips people up and there are some minor caveats, but generally this is what you'd want to reference:

image.png.28223a8d2f21a9f716a8e0b28f9fc2e7.png

The thing we know for a *fact* is that the only way an adaptor can affect a loft change is by taking the head with it's existing static loft and pointing it in a different direction. Take a right handed 9* head and point it 1.5* to the right (open) and now all you have is that 9* of loft pointing 1.5* right, very simple. Now in manipulating the face back to square you will deloft the head slightly which is where the "-.75*" comes from. If you still delivered the club 1.5* open at impact then you'd still have 9* of effective loft, assuming everything else about the delivery is neutral. But if you square the club, effective loft will decrease per that chart.

The caveats are often related to lie angle and head shape/sole design. A flatter head can often sit on the ground slightly more open regardless of the face angle, but this is down to the ground itself, the sole geometry, and what angle you hold the club at address, so it's imperfect and therefore usually not accounted for in any marketing or literature outside of things like the Cobra "Smartpad" technology which is basically a manipulation of sole geometry to help offset/neutralize the opening/closing effect of loft adjustments.

That's all the dry stuff on paper, what really matters is how it looks and performs for you, so definitely give C1 a shot and see how that looks to your eye.
