JHR's Bag- 10/31/2018 Update

Recommended Posts

John...I love the new addition to your bag(s).  That new font that Scratch is using sure reminds me of the old Confidence clubs.  Very clean looking set.  I'd be afraid to play them and get a scratch on the Scratch's!

They are exactly what i wanted, a simple, clean looking blade, very traditional i thought, and i love the Black finish.

I am with u on that on also Reid, i hate to hit them and mess up the finish, but gotta give them a try, right?

Thanks Reid.

Hey JR, I would be real curious to hear your thoughts on the scratch clubs...

I think they look and feel incredible, i have not had a chance to hit them yet, we are having lousy weather here in michigan, i hope to add some feedback as soon as i can. I am very excited to hit them, i have some great expectations for these. Thanks for asking about them. John.

Has anyone written a review of the scratch irons? I can't find it in the places I'd expect them to be and a search for scratch returns just about every post in the entire forum.

I do not recall a review ever done on Scratch.

Most people are not that familar with them, and not many ever buy them.

They have good rep for their products, their costs are a bit higher than some, and their delivery times are a bit excessive, but overall they get great reviews for their wedges and irons.

The people that i know that are Scratch players love their stuff, and i do so far.

I talked to Ari from Scratch, he is updating his site after the first of the year to show some of what they can do.

You can PM FairwayFred with questions, that is Ari .

Thanks JHR, I have been talking to Ari on emails. I'm going down this road. I was just curious what I was getting myself into.

My experience was good one overall, i would get frustrated with the waiting and sometimes lack of information, but these clubs are exactly what i ordered, i wanted to try a set so badly.

I think Ari is a great guy, i have no complaints other than what i have said already , i hope he gets his site updated and can improve on his time frames, if you want a set, i think you will be happy with what you get, but don't expect to get them quickly, unless you get something fairly standard.

And if you want standard, don't get Scratch, these are for those that want something custom, they can do ANYTHING you want with an iron, heads, stampings, grinds, paintfill etc.

I should be getting commision from Ari. John.

First off, very nice, I was wondering where you get

your wedges and clubs stamped

Thanks, i have had them stamped by various people, the Black Ones were done by Ari at Scratch alond with the B/O finishes, the Tour Chromes I had done by PutterMonster when i ordered them from them, you can do them yourself if you have a metal stamp kit, you can get them at Home Depot or Lowes or most hardware stores, if you search the forums, there has been instuction on how to do them yourself, if you wish to try. Thanks again for looking.

A living legend!!!!! Where do you get all those savage prototypes if you don't mind me asking? A pretty sweet set-up by any standards. Keep buying and we'll keep praising!!!! Nice to see someone get such pleasure from golf clubs.

Whenever I see this thread I find myself thinking of the line in Batman Returns where the penguin says "Where does he get all those wonderful toys." :)

The three new Titleist clubs that people drool over just of their pictures!!!

And you have them all in one bag together, months before their release.

Very good looking set, I like ALL of the clubs you own.

John, those 695's look magnificent! I think that's the first time I've used that word to descrive a golf club, but it sure fits those blades. Very, very, very magnificent looking! Good luck with them! Oh...and is that another Del Mar??? I'm jealous! :)

John thanks for the compliments on my set-up, now it's my turn :)

I look at this thread almost everyday is just complete and utter awe of you and your collection.

And thanks to your club ho-ing, and the great pictures pictures, my girlfriend no longer asks me why I buy new clubs when I already have other clubs I'm still using, all I had to do was show her that one picture of your office and she no longer asks me why I have 5 putters, 2 drivers, and 2 sets of irons and fairway woods, she's just thankful that my room doesn't look like your office.

She's thanksful and I'm jealous. :stop:

As always John, you are our hero and captain in the faithful ranks of all club hoes! :drag:

And those 695's are the most beautiful clubs my eyes have ever had the pleasure of resting on! :cheesy:

I'm in the driver market, and I've narrowed my selection to the titleist 905t and callaway's ft-3 tour version. I'm currently swinging a titleist 983k 9.5* with a nv 75 stiff flex shaft. I feel like my ball flight is a little high, and I also have a tendency to hook an occasional drive or two with my current driver. Not sure if my trajectory is a result of the clubs loft, or the shaft. It will be sort of difficult to find a launch monitor to give me any numbers to help with my decision. I'm leaning towards the ft-3, due to the fact that it has an open face and that I also thinks it's a better looking club.

I'm curious to know as to why you prefer the 905t over the ft-3?
