Same family of shafts

Recommended Posts

I played all Ventus at one time.  Then Diamana, then GD.  Now all my woods/hybrids are different brands although I'm really enjoying GD and MCA shafts as of late.  When I did play same family of shafts, it was never OCD or just to match.  It was a matter of what I believed performed the best at that given time based on numbers and on course results.

I did for a season and a half. Rdx red smoke. Apparently I have an abrupt transition. D, 3-5-7 wood. I thought it worked pretty well. But I’ve been working on a smoother transition so…

Within the last few weeks I moved to a hazrdus red cb in a new driver and put my 2009 rescue with the voo doo back in the bag. Kept the fairways. So far so good.

It seems logical that if a particular shaft works really well for you that you could just clone it to all of your other clubs and they should work great as well.

It works for some people.  I’ve tried to do this and it hasn’t worked for me.  For example, the Graphite Design tour AD DI 7S shaft paired with a Cobra LTDx 15 degree 3 wood set at 16.5 has been a game changer for me.  Best fairway wood I’ve ever had!

So I just had to try the Tour AD DI 6S shaft in the Cobra LTDx LS driver.  Didn’t have the same magic.  Ended up switching it out for the Tour AD VR 6S and now playing the Diamana ZF 60S.

Just don’t know until you try it though.

Cobra LTDx LS 9 deg. @ -1 with Diamana ZF 60S

Tour Edge C723 13 deg. with Diamana Thump f75 S

Cobra LTDx 15 deg @ +1.5 with Graphite Design Tour AD DI 70 S

Tour Edge E723 21 deg. with Diamana Thump f85 S

Cobra LTDx 24 deg 5 hybrid with Fujikura Fuel 85 S

Corey Paul Cavity Back 5-6 with KBS $-Taper 120 S

Corey Paul Muscle Back 7-PW with KBS $-Taper 120 S

Corey Paul 50, 54 with KBS Tour V Wedge 125g S

Corey Paul 58 with BGT ZNE 130g Stiff

Odyssey O-Works Black #7 with BGT Stability Tour

most folks ( I play with)  have 2-3 different shafts for the woods.

Callaway Rogue 12 degree Driver , stiff shaft

3 Maltby Hy , stiff shaft

Maltby KE4 Max 4-GW w/ TT Score S Flex

Maltby MAX Milled Wedges 52 and 56 degrees w/ TT DG 120 S Flex

Odyssey Stroke Lab Tuttle Putter

I'm about to put in the same shaft in my driver as 3W (GD AD-IZ) because i have an extra laying around, but going into a fitting soon I'm probably ending up in an Accra or LAGP based off previous testing with an outside shot of Ventus and maybe Aretera if out. For me it's all feel and performance related, don't care if they match.

I've certainly got a mixture in my bag - I'm always just looking for best available at a given price point.

I've played a lot of Aldila and Fujikura in my day - plus Matrix.

Now, I'm MCA Diamana blue profiles in my hybrids, with an AD-DI in the 3w and Vanquish in the driver.

I have Ventus in D/3/5 woods and Graphite Design in 4 hybrid.

I truly don’t care one way or the other. That’s just how it worked out through lots of trial and error.
