Who is the most disappointing winner of a tournament ever?

Pretty wild that Faldo won 2 green jackets on the 11th green of all places. And both tournaments featured massive chokejobs from Scott Hoch & Ray Floyd.

I saw his car in the car park at Wentworth in about 1993 or 1994. Porsche 959 with the number plate "211 NF". Me and my friend I was with figured it meant two times on the 11th and his initials. Nice.

Dropping well below shoulder height. Illegal drop and it was never corrected, should have been penalised.

I'm hoping this is an attempt at humor.

Got to jump way back there but Arnie's loss to Billy Casper in 1966 US Open when he had (I think) 6 shot lead going into back 9 on Sunday tore me up big time.

Yes that is true, but Billy Casper was a very good golfer who was No. 4 to the Big Three.

That's not an unreasonable point, but given that Cink (who definitely was good enough to win one and a nice guy) is currently well in the lead and P Reed, who, while it pains me to say it, also was good enough to win one, I'm reading it as disappointing as in upsetting rather than undeserving. Although both is probably a contender in some places.

Matt Atkins beating George Bryan in a play off to win the myrtle beach ( youtube) qualifier. Guy completely deserves it as he has made over 100+ Korn ferry, and 26 PGA starts and truly is a "pro". However it would fun to see George in another PGA tour start.

Brian Harman at last years Open. He ran away with it so good for him but I turned it off when I realized no one was going to catch him. I don’t have 90 seconds to watch a guy go through a mental checklist every time he swings. If the governing bodies actually cared about slow play he would have been penalized every hole and out of the tournament. It was agonizing to watch.

If you care to recall, there was a mix up with the Sunday pairings and Jay Don Blake got the short end of the stick while Kite received a favorable ruling on #2.  Hey, it's water under the bridge.

Like hundreds of others as diehard Jay Don Blake fans, it was a tough day.

Also, we're all forgetting that Jack Nicklaus in the commentary booth had already congratulated Monty on winning the 1992 US Open.

Mine:

Price over Parnevik

Leonard over Parnevik

Curtis over Thomas Bjorn

Hamilton over Els

Els over Scott

Harman over whoever was 2nd in the worst Open of all time

Zach Johnson twice

"JT" over Willy Zee

Willett over.... Lee "Westy" Westwood

Ogilvy over Monty

Els over Monty (twice)

Elkington over Monty

(I was a Monty fan...).

Sat through most of Norman’s losses

Great shots by others stung but it’s really only the ‘89 Open that he completely gave away

Not really, Wayne Grady was leading most of the final day and his par putt on the 17th burned the hole so he fell back into a tie and play off.

Norman obviously gave away the 96 Masters - and he hit a terrible approach way into the crowd on the 18th in 86 to lose by 1 too...

Anytime a guy loses as opposed to another guy winning it.  I want to see a guy make a charge or hold the lead with good play and win, not see someone fall apart and lose.

Specifically, I would have liked to have seen Kenny Perry win The Masters in 2009 and get a (non-senior) major for his career.  Cabrera won and that has not turned out well from the standpoint that he is unable to return as a past champion.

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but let's be honest. It's Stewart Cink.

As I understand it, Cabrera's issue is a visa, that's all.

What's wrong with Lil' Brian winning the British Open?  Someone had to win The British Open.

My major disappointment was the  Covid Masters, AKA Fall Masters, AKA Fake Masters - Dustin Johnson.   His should have received a green vest or sweater, not a jacket.

COUNT THEM 2!!!!!

All things being equal, that's like 5 Augusta Masters.  It's the 5th major.

I've never heard of the Qatar Masters until you mentioned it here. lol

Going to say it again here: if Harman were tall and on GQ status like Scott everyone would have loved his win, quirks and all. Rory gets into fits of 10 looks before taking a shot at times, and Bradley lives by them, but they never get the hate Harman does. Don't believe his groups have been warned about their actual pace of play either.

It really is funny how we act when a winner doesn't look or behave like we feel a winner should.

Brian's fan club is located in Hobbiton. He learned to play golf in Buckland from Bandobras Took, most often known as Bullroarer, who invented golf during the Battle of Greenfields when he charged the goblin ranks & knocked their king's head clean off with a wooden club. It sailed 100 yards through the air & rolled down a rabbit-hole, thus winning the battle & inventing golf at the same time.

On the level of Hogan’s 1942 Hale America open win which some try to equate to a 5th US Open win for Ben Hogan.
