The crazy thing about Cobra drivers is that the tour pros lead up their drivers. I currently have the same driver in my bag, and I have to say the club feels so light, even at a swing weight of D4.

Although booth Woodland and Fowler play their drivers extremely short, it also makes you wonder if these drivers are meant to be played 45 to sub 45” to maximize performance. You also have to ask if the LS typically needs more mass in the back of the head to make it playable. That was one of the more significant changes that was made in the Darkspeed. (recommended by Rick Shiels). I could see Rockie after he gets out of major season to make the switch back to the darkspeed after he dials it in more.

Nevertheless, looking forward to him getting some much deserved revenge here! Let get a major Rickie!

Funny you mention that - I tried out an AJ driver and thought the exact same thing.  I LOVE my AJ FWs, but could not get used to the lightweight feel of the driver...

After hitting the DS LS a lot last week I think it needs extra weight both back and in the heel for me (12g in the back, 8-10 in the heel/ 3 toe) at 45".  Not to be contrarian but I was thinking they were designed for longer shafts hence the light weight.  I really like cobra clubs from the driver down to the wedges BUT I haven't made the switch (despite having a deal) because its mid-season and I haven't found anything that is better than what i'm currently playing (not a fan of changing clubs in general).

You are definitely right about 45” dropping the SW down. LuckiIy in the DS I'd imagine it is easier to dial that in by manipulating a three weight system. However for me the AJ being a two weight system is perplexing because moving the mass of the head is harder, requiring a touch more trial and error with utilizing lead tape and the two stock weight ports. Currently I'm at the stock length of 45.5” in the AJ and the SW is at D3 which shouldn't feel light but somehow does.

But I do find it interesting that both Fowler and Woodland have so much lead tape on the driver, but I also acknowledge their drivers are typically under 45”. I do wonder what their SW are on their drivers.

I've played every driver from the Bio Cell through Aerojet and always play them shorter & with more weight added.  Back when I had my F9 driver, it had if I remember correctly 16g & 6g weights in it and was 204 or 205g without the adapter.  Was probably the best driver/shaft combo I had and stupidly sold it

Thanks for grabbing a picture of his water bottle.  I hope that bottle has another moment in the spotlight like it got last year during the open in LA.

I shot it cuz my friend’s daughter’s personal sticker is the white bunny with the chainsaw. I gave Rickie her sticker and he’s had it on the water bottle for about a year

That is exactly how I have my DS LS set up.  Ventus Blue 6x playing length at 45" with a 12g back, 8g heel and 3g toe.

I slapped on 7g of lead tape onto my LTDxLS cause it felt light, not sure what the SW is right now but feels like, if i was to fit into the DS I would make sure the weight is good.
