Scheffler 3:1.

Morikawa 10:1.

Homa 20:1.

Everyone else even longer odds.

Finau Spieth and Straka hold intrigue for me as longshots, but you'd think Scheffler just rolls here as usual.

Gil Hanse does a fantastic job wherever puts a shovel in the ground.  I am fond of his work at Taconic in Massachusetts.  Thank you for the before and after video of the renovation.

I am curious how "non-dweebs" will respond to this restorvation.  It has a rougher look to it that I like and is definitely more fitting with the original design and aesthetic.  I wonder if the masses will appreciate that effort or cast it off as a "scruffy"?

My hope is that there are some balls that hang up on slopes leading down to the creeks and ditches and we see some vexing recovery asks.

I don't know my Ft. Worth climatology.  Can they present the course as firm and bouncy this time of year?  The videos make it look pretty lush.  Bermuda rough?

Are we headed back to oiled greens?

Bikini wax prior to applying oil.  My experience anyway.

I think I like the more rugged look. More intimidating and clearer identity for the holes. Though I do have to admit I have no clear memory of the course pre renovation.

The video confused me at times with what’s new and what’s old material.

Give them mad props for having what looks to me the perfect amount and type of trees for a property.  They have specimen type trees, isolated from themselves to a degree, while also growing in clusters or clumps.  This allows for the trees to be something you have to contend with, but there is space not only within the clumps to play out of it but between the clumps of trees where you can still have a goof chance at recovery or be tempted to work a ball through them.

Also, they have them limbed up nicely to promote recovery (and good turf health via air flow).

I grew up on the street that adjoined the 15th hole and am familiar with the old layout.  The par 3s  look like they changed the most, and I would say for the better.  Wished they could've re-created the old oak tree that angled over the left side of 18 fairway, but that was lost in a storm several years ago.  Need to get over there this week.

Here is you a Dye/Tree pallet cleanser > https://www.petedyegolftrail.com/courses/the-pete-dye-course-at-french-lick/ .

(Crooked Stick is another Dye that I think would be hard to argue trees are a problem on.)

played it ... the top of a large ridge with 40 mph winds and narrow, blind fairways isn't exactly a palate cleanser ...

Finished @ +8. Ouch, Max! 12 shot difference between he and Tony with whom he was playing! Averaged almost .7 strokes per hole higher than Finau. That's gotta hurt!

Q: Can a 4 beat Max Homa on the second to last Thursday in May at Colonial?

A: Undoubtedly

I can’t wait to see his update of Spanish Bay.  Great property that deserves better than the course that sits on it now.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
