Wedges.... raw or finished.

Raw. Even with the dang up-charge. I just love the "tools" look and they feel much softer to me.

black sucks. Looks good. Til you see every miss hit you ever did.

GDB67 isn't wrong, but I would still prefer raw or black.  Any finish that won't glare in your eyes when you open the clubface.  That really only tends to be an issue for 54 through 60 or 60+ though.

Chrome. Ordered new wedges in Nickel, but I've had raw wedges in the past and don't mind them. I definitely wouldn't pay MORE money for a higher maintenance wedge.I've never noticed any feel difference with a raw wedge. I don't play with a golf glove.

I also don't think tour players play raw wedges for superior feel. It's much more likely because they are being hand finished to each players specific shape. This includes grind, but also leading edge and topline. If they were chrome the finish would be ground off.

The last time I played a chrome finished sand or lob wedge was 1988, I think.

Ever since then it's been beryllium copper, aluminium bronze or raw wedges in those slots for me. Pings, Mizunos, Clevelands, Nikes and various Vokeys. All have the advantage that they get better with age and 'heal' the scuffs and scratches that a bunker club picks up. I don't have a photo of the old Mizuno TP-9 sand wedge I played as a youngster, but suffice it to say a lot of it was dark grey, and the sole stamp had disappeared along with the bottom half dozen grooves. As a keen youngster who practiced short game for hours at a time, a year with a chromed sand wedge had it looking like it had fought in a war and lost.

I do have a lob wedge in the bag now that isn't rusty or showing a nice brown patina, but it's a stainless steel, unplated one, so it doesn't age too badly.

Not a fan of rusty. They just look junky to me. The alternative that I like is the Jet Black finish. It eliminates glare and I like the way it wears over time. You get that nice patina without it looking trashy.

Personally not a fan of raw wedges or irons.  The brown oxidation tends to get on other stuff like the top of your bag, towel, glove, BALL.

It's been proven that raw doesn't increase spin or performance in any way.  But there is this limited edition or 'special order only' attraction/desirability of a raw finish that some crave.

...and I dig.  Just not for me.

I think a scuffed up black head looks worse than a purposely rusty head.  Black is the one finish I don't care for I guess.  To each their own...

I have black Vokeys. The rub and patina looks lovely like an old ball mitt.

...but I don't wear out the toe.

The best finish on a wedge right now, IMHO, is the new TM MG4.  I know the face is raw, but the dark zinc-grey color is very utilitarian. (I don't play these but they are indeed cool.)

Raw. I wipe them after use and have never had a problem with rust. Just some darkening patina. Plated wedges don’t age well in my opinion.

Something else worth noting is that you can grind your raw wedges if you want some extra relief. I like to put a little leading edge relief on my less lofted wedges I mostly hit square shots with.

Yeah agree. When it's not looked after it can look like junk.

My SW is a zipcore tour grind and right when I got it i immediately dunked it in permablue or gun blueeing.

Its on its second season of use and only wear is only on the sole and lower part of face but as a whole still looks like the matte black look. Been thinking about reapplying but kinda like the look of the transition from the dark to light on the face.
