I guess you could compare the T.P. Mills putters feel wise to the Studio Design, that's what I always thought. Out of all the putters that I have putted with TP's Mizuno putters and the Studio Design putter are the softest (most receptive feel off the face) of any non-insert putter out there. I had the pleasure of putting with a few sales samples back in August at a Edwin Watts in Baton Rouge. My first impressions were very good, they had a more solid feel than the Studio Design, the best way I could describe it in words would be inbetween the feel of the Studio Stainless and the Studio Design, VERY similar to the Studio Style in terms of feel. I found the overall appearance of the putters to be much more appealing atleast to my eye, I personally like the #2 the best. The finish is pretty much the same as the Studio Design, just no 'oil can' appearance. It's a shiny matte black look which is very clean looking.

I think the main difference between the putters is obviously feel, and the new finish.

I think Scotty has come out with a winner here, I just wish he either didn't release his 1st of 500's so early, or he would hurry up the release date of the retail models. The price has gone down a little bit on ebay, it is now about $400 if you want to buy a putter alone, and ~$1500-1600 if you want to by the set of four.

Cheers, Bryan

The Studio Design series was finished in the 'black pearl' and the new Circa 62 series is to be finished in the older style 'black oxide' (apparently). The black oxide is a softer feeling finish, not as hot off the face.

Actually, the first 2 years of the Studio Design putters, they made them with the "Gun Blue" finish, which is basically the same thing. It wasn't until '03 that they started to use the "Black Pearl" finish on them.

I own a number of Camerons, and I still believe that the '01-02 Studio Design models are the softest feeling putters he has made. I haven't tried the Circa '62s yet, but I would imagine they would be about the same. Look like very nice sticks.

Yes, but the studio design putters from the early year with the "gun blue" finish has serious rusting problems.

You had to polish them off with gun oil almost every time you used the putter - and if you were unlucky and got caught in the rain during a round with the old studio design putter with the gun blue finish, you could almost be sure the putter would rust if you forgot to clean and polish the putter aftr the round.

The new line of studio design putters from 2003 had a new finish called "Black pearl" which is far more durable, rust resistant and nearly maintenance free. It's very very soft - don't know how Scotty could make a new more durable finish which still feels soft like butter.

I really like soft carbon steel finish putters - but only use them during the hot and dry summer time.

My Never Comp Milled #1, which also is milled out of soft carbon steel, is equally soft feeling as my Studio Design Black Pearl putter is. But using these putters in wet weather conditions is a NO NO :stop:

I use my Scotty Red X and Scotty Studio Style putters, which both are stainless steel putters, for my winter bag. Using the Sudio Desing putter in my winter bag is like playing russian roulette :) :cheesy:

If the new Circa putters from Scotty has the old gun blue finish which requires a lot of maintenance, I probably will pass on that putter

I disagree. I have a JAT, an original SD 1.5, and a newer SD 5. Of all of those "Studio Design" models I own, the Black Pearl finish is least soft in my book. They are soft, for sure. But, the original SD models, in my book, are much softer. I would put even the Studio Stainless models above them in soft feeling.

You have the right to disagree :stop:

I also have the right to disagree with you :)

I own both the Studio Stainless, the Studio Style, the Studio Design Black Pearl and the Red X Scotties, and of all these, I find my milled Carbon steel studio design putter the softest feeling - NO DOUBT

But I like all my Scotty putters for different reasons- but I really love my rainbow Black Pearl Studio design putter - and I don't have to wipe it or the headcover with WD40 every time I use it on the pitch :cheesy:
