I5 or PING Tour wedges

I'm purchasing a set of I5 irons (4-pw,uw,sw,lw) :drinks: . I was wondering if I should go with I5 sw, lw, or Ping tour sw 54*, lw 58*. I would normally go with the Tours but I see alot of pro's using the old ping eye or eye2 wedges. I was wondereing if the I5 wedges measure up to the eye's. :dntknw:

I play i5 irons (3-PW) with Tour wedges (52* and 56*) and love my setup. I personally think the Tour wedges are the best wedges I have ever played. Tour players keep older clubs because of comfort level and when something works are relunctant to change. I find myself using my Tour 52* more than my pitching wedge simply because I like it so much.

Sorry that was a mistake on my part. The wedge lofts should have read 54*, 58*. I'll change my post. The uw loft is 50* so I figured sw 54* and lw 58* seemed logical.

i just purchased a set of Ping Tour Black Ni wedges and love them. They replaced my ping M/B wedges. much better look and feel IMO.

I'd go either 54/58 or 56/60 in the Ping tour wedge. You can go through the WRX Dept. and get what ever grind you wish. It's a great program and only costs like $9 for the grinds.

Actually I would go 56* bent to (55*) and 60*. But then again it's a matter of need and preference in the short game.

I would go with Tour wedges. With less offset and a thinner top line they will look better behind the ball and they would give you more spin control with your shots and will be more versatile out of a vairety of lies. The Tours are great wedges too. Certainly up there with the best. In my opinion it would be a good purchase.

For what it is worth, I play the I5 predecessor (i3+ Blades) and use the i3+ Blade PW (47 degrees -- 120/125 yards) and UW (52 degrees -- 100/105 yards) and the Ping M/B (58 degrees -- 80/85 yards). The M/B is my sand and lob wedge. I previously had a 54 degree M/B, but never seemed to hit it as well from the fairway as the UW. I still have my 1990 Ping Eye2 L wedge (61 degrees), but I hit the M/B 58 better from all lies. I am a 12 handicap.

The Tour wedges probably have more options in the way of sole grinds; however, the I5's have an advantage that I find compelling. Consistency with irons.

With the same grips and shafts, the I5 wedges willl look and feel exactly like your 3-PW. This should inspire confidence over the ball and better results.

That is why I play Mizuno wedges that have the same swingweight as my MX-23's.

I have the i5's and the Tour Wedges. In the i5's I have them 4-pw and I have the tour wedges in the 50, 54, and 58. I really like the flow and I did the special grind on the 58°.
