X-mas was good

Ping G5
I will say much of my hard work paid off, I got a nice bonus spoiled the kids and wife, but I had a little extra for the G5 driver, and with the gift cards from Golf Galaxy, I was able to buy a set of G5 irons. So here's my prognosis:

The G5 driver:

This thing can really improve in all aspects of your driving. My slice turned into a barely noticeable fade and my distance went up 30 yards. As said in previous posts, yesterday I took her out and played a round with some buddies, one in particular is so fond of his r7 and talks about it in every social situation, he can, to make himself look good. As he was taking 20 minutes torquing up his driver and we were warming up he said with a huge grin, "you vs. me in a side bet, 5 bucks for long drive per hole." I came out of the box charging with a drive of 285+/- and he hit 255. His look after that was priceless, I knew a great day was ahead of me, I just knew it and sure enough I won 10-4 on driveable par 4 and 5's, I even flew by him a time or two with a 300 yarder. The G5 has all the forgiveness and distance anybody can want in a driver.

The G5 irons:

I used to play Tommy Armour 845's and so my 5 iron was really my 7 iron, in other words, these clubs yielded no distance. So with that said, I got used to using those previous distances and attributed them to my G5 irons, what a mistake. I was hitting my 7 iron 165. I was hitting uncharacteristically long for me. I was just in awe, on how these irons felt, performed, and looked. I hit one of the best golf shots with them, I have ever hit from about 155 out I used an eight iron and knocked it on to the green and spun it back 2 ft for a birdie tap in.

I would highly recommend these to anyone. These are it for me. I won't buy another set for probably 8 years or so. I was a big TaylorMade OS and r5 fan, but I switched after I tested the PINGS. Get you a set you will thank me.

I just traded my FT-3 driver (did not like the muted sound) for a G5 with an Aldila NV 65S. I love Ping products and hit this driver exceptionally well on the indoor launch monitor (275 yard carry). The extra 3/4" feels really long compared to Callaway which was a standard 43". Hopefully I will get used to the longer club when I hit it on the course. Do any of you G5 users have any comments on the length of the driver? I am 6'0'' tall and hopefully will not have any trouble controlling this driver. Your comments are appreciated !

as for the above poster im pretty much same height you are and the callaway fusion comes at a standard of 45" as does the G5. Im not sure where your coming with the shorter driver thing but did you perhaps buy your fusion used or something. these two drivers should be 45" from the factory and therefore you shouldnt have any difference in length on them.

Actually I meant 45", not 43". But you are absolutely wrong about the G5 being 45". The specs are on the Ping web site and the club is clearly longer (3/4") than other standard drivers. My clubfitter in Orlando does work for numerous Tour pro's and all measurements are extremely precise.

true i know your right bout it being longer but then again ive never bought ping in the store so i dont know the specs on their drivers and woods in the store, everything i have as you can see in my sig come straight from them and as i also have there all drivers come in at 43.75 inches so i didnt think about the fact that ping changed their from their lengths from older drivers to the new ones. (stopped paying attn to their drivers when they came out with the g2 too big for me.) im sure your clubfitter is accurate just wasnt paying attn bc of the fact that pings tour dept does whatever ya want them to do to a club.

i also must say that ping made a step in the right direction by toning down the alignment aid on top of the club for the G5 series of woods, most of the ping staff players i know like it but thought needed to be toned down, now if theyd offer it without it at all thatd be even nicer.

enjoy the ping products...best manufacturer imo for clubs (except maybe tm on drivers and scotty on putters).
