How do you remove old griptape ? I can't seen to get off the old melted grip tape help !

Or you can use a sharp utility knife, assuming that you have steel shafts.

If I may, I use a heat gun, it works pretty good for me. I hate it when that happens.

Only problem for me is i don't have a heat gun and my dad wont let me cause he thinks the solvent will touch it and blow up our house lol.

If you don't have a heat gun, a hair dryer will suffice. It doesn't have to be super hot to loosen the adhesive. Once you do that you can just scrape it off.

A heat gun or hair dryer set on hottest setting. A few minutes all the way around the shaft and the tape usually peels right off. In some instances, I've had to use a utility knife and scape it off.

are these titleists by any chance? or does the tape look more white (not yellowish like masking tape)? if so, then these are the bane of every re-grippers existence... water activated grip tape. with this tape, even a torch, burning it to a crisp, only gets you halfway there!

 

if it's graphite, sometimes soaking the tape in a bucket of water helps you peel it off. if steel, use the heat, get as much off as you can and then some goof-off or acetone will usually clean off the rest.

There is no tape I ever had difficulty with when removing. Always use a heat gun, you just have to make sure not to apply too much heat!!

 

I've worked with every brand, any Tape will come off with a heat gun......at least in my studio that is :)

 

I never have tried this but I am not entirely sure whether I want the end of my graphite shaft being soaked in a bucked of water for some time, although I have to admit that I have no idea how long it actually takes...
