Knee Surgery

I know this is not really equipment, but....

Just had both knee's scoped on Wednesday for torn miniscus in both.

Anyone had this procedure, and if so, how long did you have to wait before hitting balls and getting back on the course?

Doctor says six to eight weeks, which I guess works out well for this time of year.

Just wondering while I sit here reading and taking pain pills.

I had both of mine done for the same thing, I was hitting balls in a month, just do the therapy exercises and ice it for the swelling

I had my 3rd surgery on my acl/mcl this year, it sucked! Good luck with the recovery!

I had my right knee scoped for Meniscus also last April. I was hitting balls with in a few weeks. The biggest problem I faced was the surrounding muscle strength. Since I hadn't built up my quad/calf strength, I was not using my legs to drive through the swing. I suggest as part of your rehab, to see your swing coach to make sure you are not compromising your fundamentals. Since then, I am glad I had the procedure, just wish I had it done sooner.

I had a majoy Knee surgery done last August(at the end of Aug like the 29th or 30th) (2004). I had my ACL and PCl Replaced as well as the back of my kneecap reconstructed (shaved and plastic screwed into it). I rehabed hard (4 months pre surgery and 6 months post surgery) and about 3 1/2 months after surgery I started hitting ball. About a month of 1/2 shot, then gradually worked to full iron shots and by beginning of Feb I was hitting everything.

Going into the sirgery I was a 5 and in April about 7 months after srgery I quailfied for the NYC Am, and went on to make the cut and place top 25. During the rehab process I gained some weight because of the inability to exercise as much as I needed to. But as I took the weight off I played better. Now 16 months out I am nearly 100% (except I dont have full flexion in the joint) and I am playing to under a 3.5, this season I played and made the cut in several local tourns with on top five.

For this winter I have committed muyself to 4-5 Am workouts in the gym each week including 45 min cardio per workout, stretching , 20-30 min weight training (2 days each week on legs, and 2 days each week golf specific upper body weight training including exercises that focus on balance and stability while performing with weights or weighted balls.
