drill to promote left hand in down swing, limit right hand

i was again studying my ben hogan five fundementals because i feel like my swing is getting really bad right now. i'm feeling like one problem that i think i've always had is that i use my right hand/arm to swing the club in the down swing. i'm thinking this move is causing the clubhead to get ahead of my hands and also contributing to erratic ball striking. any drills would be appreciated.

I know exactly what your talking about g nut. I used to really try and release the club with my right side and it hurts more than helps.I fought with it all my golfing life and thought it promoted more power . It doesn't just makes your hips speed up and clear faster, not good :wave: So i was always on a quest to find out how the right side helped it the down swing, because watching the tour players it looks like the right side really comes thru hard in the downswing.It does, but in my opinion involatary. The reason i have this opinion is twofold, one pick up or check out the book (understanding the golf swing) author: Manuel de la Torre 20 bucks, and is what it says. The other reason is that i had the luck of having Stewart Cink, come to my truck shop and of course i just had to ask that burning question.What part does the right side play in the downswing, and i told him what ever he told me i would live with it and settle the debate in my head and other golf buddies on the right side in the golf swing. This is what he told me--------- HE DOESN'T REALLY FEEL THE RIGHT SIDE IN THE DOWNSWING !!! Now this is a tour player telling me this so if i don't take head to it i'm an idiot :drag: so he explained to me that the right side, just his grip mainly acts as a guide for his swing in general. Then he went on to say, that when he starts the downswing and shifting his weight back to the left side the left arm, now let me explain what a tour player defines as there left arm,and that book i mention earlier covers this. It is the portion of the arm that is connected from the shoulder to the elbow that is what is considered to be the arm.The other terms are the forearm,wrist and hands.Now i don't know if this is the best way to explain this to you,but it made a hell of a difference for me.It is more of a pulling motion with your left arm,just remember what they consider the left arm.When you start the downswing this way it takes everything else out of the equation.(ie) forearm,wrist and hands and keeps the hands back as long as possible for that Delayed hit everyone is looking for with there swing. :cheesy: It doesn't come easy though it takes time to get comfortable with it.Damn i haven't typed that much in a life time :) Best thing i can tell you is check that book out it has allot of info in it, about what i'm talking about,and get out to the range to practice the tecnique.it's a little funky at first but stick with it,it well pay off!
