Ozik X Con Shaft

Recommended Posts

The new XCon series continues the Ozik tradition of premium shaft design and performance with the new XCon 5, XCon 6, XCon 7, XCon Altus, XCon F-7M, and XCon Altus Hybrid.

XCon Technology-Gradient Energy Flow: Tip Design

Conventional shafts expeience their greatest amount of energy deformation between the mid and tip sections. This "weakness" will reduce the stability of the clubhead at impact and can accentuate the sliding of the clubface across the ball, leading to higher spin rates. Using Gradient Energy Flow (GEF) the XCon concentrates more direct energy flow to the clubhead. More stability is created at impact, resultin in hihger MOI, less clubface-toball sliding and less backspin. True high launc, low spin ball flight can be created.

Got an X-con5 in an Exotics XLD 10.5 head. Freq at 255cpm. Swingspeed = @100

Excellent, excellent results with this setup.

Longest combo I have hit and the most forgiving. I can take a rip without fear of losing it too far left or right. 80% shots are money.

Great feel.

Past shaft was an Aldila NVS stiff (in a different head) some similar characteristics on feel but much better dispersion / consistency / distance with the Xcon 5.

I guess I am kind a late comer and this will be my first post here in Golfwrx.com

I just had a X-Con 6 installed in my Super Squad. Shaft felt lively and it kicks like a mule. Not that I have been kick by mule but y'all know what I mean. :)

Anyway I've had many driver and Super Squad being my latest, my previous drivers I've tried Comp NT, Speeder 652, 757 and NV, NVs etc..never had courage to go on ahead with top of the tier shafts nor did I have any $$

But I'm glad I bought the x-con. I really did not see any major distance increase but my drives are alot more stable and controllable.

Hitting my usual fade is easy and very predictable. I could sometime turn it over and hit a draw but I'm not comfortable hitting a draw still.

My ball trajectory is perfect and I am getting slight more roll than the stock shaft I've had before. No more ballooning nor a duck hooks I am so paranoid about. Shaft really feels smooth and I could really feel the shaft loading up and kicking it quickly as I approach the impact zone. No matter how fast or slow I swing I could still feel the shaft kicking. Strange feeling than what I have used to but I kind a enjoying it.

So I guess you can buy your game. Now fairway looks wide and I am having fun on tee box.

Thanks to all the people in forum for giving a honest reviews.

I'm no expert on all the different shafts available but this has been the year I have experimented with more than half a dozen different ones. None till now have meet my expectation & that is the X-Con 6. I like the low spin I get with the mid kick point. Feels very smooth at impact as this is a great combo with the FT1 LCG. I wish I would have tried this shaft out sooner as I don't fear those tight driving holes anymore

I've gone kind of Matrix crazy this past year and fell in love with several of the shafts. I've tried a lot of them including the M2 series (F6M2 std; F7M2 std; F7M2 2007 Proto); X-Con (5; 6; Altus; Altus LT; Altus Hybrid); and Code (6; 8). What I've determined is that each shaft line for me can fit into the bag, but it depends on the club it's going into.

You can see from my WITB signature that I'm playing the F6M2 in my driver, the Altus LT in my 3-wood, and Altus Hybrid in all my hybrids; I have the F7M2 2007 Proto in my 5-wood, but it doesn't make it out to play much since I got my 16* Idea Pro. I have a mix of flexes and shaft tipping to tune each club.

I did not like the X-Con 5 or 6 in my driver... too high of launch... but, the Altus LT and Hybrid shafts are perfect in their respective clubs. For my father and a friend at my Club, the 5 and 6 are perfect in their drivers.

I am totally blown away by this shaft, and I can't figure out how much of it is the head, how much is the shaft. I guess I have a 'modded' shaft for Taylormade.

I'm speaking of an Ozik 5.5 MOI. I was getting 800 less back spin, which I have been notorious for high spin drives. That is not a type O. 800 less backspin from other drivers I tried with different shafts.

But I do have a question... at which point is it good to get into a 'Stiff' flex with this shaft? I swing driver at 97-101MPH. I was told by someone after I bought it that you need to put a serious move on this shaft to get it to work. I don't have a 'serious move'..... I'm wondering if I'm leaving yards on the table by going stiff? Any advice?

I will add that I seem to be able to put a lot more on the club and it still holds the line extremely well. The feel at impact is tremendous. I'm a smoother tempo player and this does not feel like a metal pole like some of the other so called high end shafts have. This gives you confidence, and I end up striking it a bit harder.

Still, I'm worried I took on too much flex for my swing. I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

I am currently playing the X Con 7 stiff in a tour issue FT-5. My ss is around 115mph and I have always played X-flex shafts simply for control. With this shaft I am able to play a softer flex and not sacrifice any control. This is by far the smoothest feeling shaft, loading and unloading, that I have ever played. It also plays exactly how Matrix describes it, high launch - low spin.

I have seen on other threads that it is a Code 6 shaft.

I have the stiff stock one in the same driver. I have only owned it for 2 weeks so a better

review is to follow.

I like the driver and shaft set up very much.

I have hit the new Ping v2, Titleist 9092, new Launcher, TM Tour Burner, TT exotics latest,

and Corbra's LV 4 & 5 and the demo was won by the Adams A4 insight Tech gong away.

SS with driver 98mph with a easy tempo swing. So far a 10 yard increase from an average of

245 yards to 255+ with the Adams.

Yeah it is that good a driver.

I have Had an Xcon in the past 3 drivers. The First was an FT-3 w/ Xcon 6.....Amazing shaft. The second was a FT-I w/Xcon 6 as well, also amazing. The Current driver I am playing is the Bridgestone j33R 460cc 10.5 w/Xcon 5, By far the most amazing combo I have ever played.I truly bought 20 Yards(dropped spin rates 825rmp). I was almost infamous in my group for having that one hop stop high spin drive until I switched to the Ozik shafts. I was so Impressed that I went and got fitted for another xCon 6 in my FTI squareway 3 wood. It also gave me 10 yards more carry and I hit Laser Beams with it. I will always have an Ozik in my Woods for sure.

have the x con 5 S in my limited great shaft very long too. Have picked up at least 10-20 yards since i got it with the limited. Not sure if its the limited's head but im pretty sure it's the shaft. The feel is alright not as much as i would like. The trajectory is a bit low for my liking but that does'nt matter that much since it rolls quite a bit. Are the shafts that taylor made have on their drivers the "real ones" and just have different graphics or not?

I have an authentic X Con 6 in an FTi and it is the longest driver I have ever owned. I have a for TM X con 5 R9 shaft and a made for Cobra X-Con 6 that I just pulled and put the R9 sleeve on it with plans to use it with my R9 head. What are the primary differences in the Authentic X Con shafts and the Made for versions?

I have played the Xcon 6 in my FT-5 for 2 years now. I just cannot say enough about this shaft. I love the ball flight that it produces, I love how it feels throughout the swing, and I love how it feels at impact. Plus how do you not like the candy apple red! I installed an Xcon-5 in an FT-9 Tour and it did not fit my swing as well as I had hoped but my friend (3 hcp) hit it during one round and purchased it from me before the round was over.
